Student answer (Band 6.0)
Several people believe that international sports events, such as The Olympics or the Football World Cup, are a good way to bring nations together while other say that these events create competition, not friendship, between countries. I believe both the views are correct because both the international games makes a good friends as well as enemy too. I will discuss both the ideas and my opinion in this essay.
To begin with, International games makes a strong relationship between countries because sports are the things which control human beings emotionally. For example, if there is a game between two countries, and both the countries are politically fighting with each other. However, due to these games they will stand in the same field, and do handshake with each other. In between games may be both the teams will play like brothers by supporting and respecting with eachother then there will be more chance of making good relationship between the countries rather than fighting.
On the other hand, these sports also make a biggest enemy to one another because it create a competition, and make them arrogant of wining these trophy. For instance, If there is a competition between India and pakistan then these games always makes them against to each other. Moreover, they did not play these competition as a games rather than they think it is their about their ego they must have to win. In addition, two nations become more opponent to eachother.
From my perspective, I believe that there should be an international games because games teach the discipline, and connect the people from one to another. In addition, these sports not only make a good bonding but also encourage the youth to love and fight for their nation in a positive way.
To conclude, these international sports helps the countries to make good relationships as well as they make them against to each other. However, I believe that international games not only make firendship but also motivate youths to play the games for their nation and to be physically fit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that international sports bring countries together and that they create competition and animosity—while providing a clear personal opinion throughout. In the introduction, the writer outlines both perspectives and states their viewpoint. The body paragraphs present relevant ideas, such as athletes interacting respectfully on the field versus national rivalries like India and Pakistan. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, with generalisations rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the discussion on political rivals standing on the same field touches upon good points but lacks fully extended support. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, a personal perspective, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', 'From my perspective', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, phrases like 'in between games may be both the teams will play like brothers' feel awkward and disrupt the logical flow. Additionally, pronoun referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth inter-sentential links. Progression is discernible, but the mechanical nature of the linking devices and minor structural awkwardness limit the score to a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'politically fighting', 'arrogant of wining', and 'positive way'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and word-form errors throughout the response, such as 'international games makes' (instead of 'make'), 'biggest enemy to one another' (instead of 'biggest enemies'), 'wining' (instead of 'winning'), 'trophy' (instead of 'trophies'), and 'firendship' (spelling error). Furthermore, collocation is occasionally unnatural, such as 'their about their ego'. While communication is not impeded and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the frequency of word-choice and spelling errors prevents the score from reaching Band 6.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'if there is a game between two countries, and both the countries are politically fighting'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('International games makes', 'sports helps', 'games teach'), pluralisation ('both the teams', 'these competition'), and article usage ('an international games'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur with enough frequency across complex and simple sentences to warrant a Band 5.5. The writer would benefit from focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and agreement rules.
