Student answer (Band 6.0)

International sports events like Olympics or the Football World Cup, are seen as a nice way to make good relations between countries by some people. Other see them as a bad, because they may become the reason for competition rather than friendship between countries. Many people believe it is good because hosting such events can make business for their people and ultimately help their economy to grow. But it can also make relations between countries tense because of competition. I believe them as a good way to bring nations close and make good friendships.

Some people appreciate this kind of events because they think them a business opportunity and a one of the great way to make countries ecomomy stronger. When people travel for these events from across the globe and spend money on flights, hotel bookings, food and tickets, so many people can get business from them and ultimately it helps economy in form of texes. For example, last year US hosted the Football World Cup, and created business opportunities which were worth of thousands of dollars.

Other think them as a reason for conflicts between nations due to competitive stress. While this is not completely true, because this kind sport events are highly regulated and protects this issue through teaching their competitors professionalisam and empathy. For example, they encourage their participants to hug and have a kind handshake with their opponents before and after the event.

In conclusion, such kind of sports events are great way to build friendships across the globe if they regulate the competitive environment. The world leaders should encourage this kind of events so that world can become a better place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on international sports events (bringing nations together versus creating competition and conflict) and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, but some points are slightly repetitive or under-developed. For instance, the economic benefit is illustrated with a generic example ("last year US hosted the Football World Cup"), which contains factual inaccuracies and lacks depth. Furthermore, the argument regarding the regulation of competitive stress is somewhat simplistic. Nevertheless, a clear position is maintained throughout the response, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged coherently with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as economic benefits in paragraph two and competitive conflicts in paragraph three. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in transitions like "Other think them as a reason" and "While this is not completely true, because this kind sport events..." Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression between sentences could be smoother. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms related to economics and sports (e.g., "international sports events," "business opportunity," "economy," "competitors"). However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as "make good relations," "a one of the great way," "ecomomy," and "texes" (taxes). Less common vocabulary is attempted with mixed success, and errors in spelling and collocation occasionally occur, though they do not impede overall communication. This performance aligns with the Band 6 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. Complex structures are attempted, such as in sentences beginning with dependent clauses ("When people travel for these events..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing throughout the text, including article omissions and misuse ("like Olympics," "a bad," "this kind sport events," "protects this issue," "professionalisam"). While these errors do not severely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the student from achieving a higher band score, making Band 6 an appropriate evaluation.
