Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the competitive world, employment and economic development have become an integral part in the progress of any nation. Some people believe, job satisfaction is more important for country's development, while other argue that job security is more crucial for employees and their country as well. This essay will explain why a balance is vital between job security and job satisfaction.
On the one hand, an employee's personal satisfaction at job is of utmost importance as it helps them to be creative and productive in their work. Their creativity and productivity help boost not only company's overall performance but also country's economy as well. For instance, it has been noticed that in multinational companies their workers are fully satisfied with their job and therefore they love their work. Moreover, if you are satisfied with your work then definitely you will do your work with zeal and zest.
On the other hand, job security is also vital in a person's financial stability. In developing countries, it has been seen that job security is much more crucial for employees as compared to their inner satisfaction about job. For example, if their job is secure and safe they can plan for their house and education. In addition, if they are fully aware of their job security, they can properly focus on their work, that will be beneficial for the whole country.
To conclude, both job satisfaction and job security are equally important for the country's development. Job safety will give workers opportunity to plan for their longterm projects and ultimately they can focus on their work. Job satisfaction, on the other hand, will help them to retain their interest in work and they will not get bored of their job. Hence, both aspects are of equal weightage and should never be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The candidate has written an essay that completely misses the prompt's instructions. While the prompt asks to discuss international sports events (such as the Olympics or the Football World Cup) and whether they bring countries together or create competition, the student has mistakenly written about employment, job satisfaction, and job security. Because the response is entirely off-topic regarding the specific task prompt, it fails to address the required parts of the task. However, the student has presented a clear position on their chosen topic and developed supporting arguments, which shows good essay structure in isolation, but Task Achievement must be heavily penalised due to the off-topic nature of the content.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is well-organised into four clear paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs representing different views, and a conclusion. The writer uses standard cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'To conclude' to signal logical progression and transitions between ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately. Referencing is generally clear, and although the content itself is completely unrelated to the actual prompt, the internal logical structure and progression of the student's ideas within their chosen text demonstrate competence in managing coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for discussing workplace concepts, including terms such as 'economic development,' 'job satisfaction,' 'financial stability,' and 'longterm projects.' There are some attempts at less common vocabulary ('utmost importance,' 'zeal and zest'), though occasional slight awkwardness in word choice or phrasing occurs, such as 'satisfaction at job' instead of 'job satisfaction' or 'company's overall performance' missing an article. Nevertheless, the vocabulary used is sufficient to communicate meaning clearly and naturally in most instances.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures ('if you are satisfied with your work then definitely you will do your work') and relative clauses ('that will be beneficial for the whole country'). There are some minor grammatical inaccuracies and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('boost not only company's overall performance') and minor structural awkwardness in informal phrasing ('if you are'). However, these errors are relatively infrequent and do not impede the overall communication of the writer's ideas.
