Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The student attempts to discuss both views regarding international sports events and gives a personal opinion, as required by the prompt. However, the response is severely truncated, stopping abruptly mid-sentence at 'which help' and containing only 82 words, which falls well short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Because the length requirement is not met, the response can only be addressed minimally and the main body ideas are severely under-developed, resulting in a low score for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Coherence and cohesion are heavily disrupted by the incomplete nature of the response. The student attempts a basic introduction with phrases like 'Majourly' and 'on the other hand', and starts the first body paragraph with 'Firstly'. However, the text breaks off abruptly after only a few sentences, making it impossible to evaluate paragraphing and overall logical progression fully. The limited text shows some basic cohesive devices, but the lack of completion prevents a higher score.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and contains noticeable spelling and word-choice errors. For example, 'Majourly' is a misspelling of 'Majorally' or incorrectly used instead of 'Mostly', 'promotes relation' lacks appropriate pluralisation or collocation, and 'liberlisation' is misspelled. The student attempts less common items such as 'globalisation' and 'interconnecting', but the overall lexical range is limited and hampered by frequent errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The text contains several grammatical and structural errors. For instance, 'international sports events promotes' suffers from a subject-verb agreement error, and 'I belived' has a tense/spelling error. Furthermore, the sentences contain awkward phrasing and the text terminates mid-sentence. While there is an attempt at a complex structure in the first sentence, the high frequency of errors relative to the short length of the text limits the grammatical score.
