Student answer (Band 4.0)

A number of people argue that international sports events such as the olympics or the football world cup are a good way to bring countries together.

i think that sports are the really good things to create friendship in different countries because they share a same stage in game and beings equally treated and friendly fire each other .And also many people think that game and sports create competition not friendship

In my view this is also a related things that not many but in some time sports and football have to face not a friendship but rivally. But manly these brings a good relationship and belive in each other as a person how they are and Now each other in a serious way.

For Example: when a olympices game was start in 1945 in that time the second world war was on . To start the olympices game all countries have to stop the second world war and brings piece for to start game . This is a power of Olympic and game they held .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The student addresses both views by acknowledging that sports can foster friendship as well as generate rivalry or competition, and attempts to give a personal opinion. However, the response suffers from a critical length failure, reaching only 176 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. This significantly limits the development of ideas. Furthermore, the historical example provided is factually incorrect and confused (stating the Olympics started in 1945 during WWII), which weakens the persuasiveness and task response. Because the response is under length and ideas remain largely under-developed and limited, it aligns with the Band 4 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay is divided into short, rudimentary paragraphs, but overall the information and ideas are not arranged coherently. Progression is difficult to track due to broken sentence structures and abrupt transitions between thoughts. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('i think') and using awkward conjunctive phrasing like 'And also' and 'In my view this is also a related things'. Referencing is frequently unclear, meaning the reader struggles to follow the logical flow of the argument. This reflects the characteristics of Band 4, where coherence is severely compromised by poor paragraphing and weak cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and restricted to everyday terms such as 'good things', 'game and sports', and 'friendship'. There are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and morphology, such as 'friendly fire each other', 'rivally' instead of rivalry, 'manly' instead of mainly, and 'Now each other' instead of knowing each other. These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling and word-formation errors strain the reader and prevent precise communication. This performance fits the Band 4 descriptor profile, which features basic and repetitive vocabulary with errors that impede understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or poorly attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are major systemic errors in punctuation, capitalization (e.g., 'olympics', 'i think'), subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, as seen in 'sports have to face not a friendship but rivally' and 'when a olympices game was start in 1945'. Punctuation is largely neglected, and basic structural rules are ignored. Frequent errors distort meaning and cause significant difficulty for the reader, placing this response firmly at Band 4.
