International sports events, such as The Olympica or the Football World Cup are held and oraginze by different countries through out the world. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that international sports events unite countries and that they foster fierce competition—while also providing a personal opinion. The ideas are generally well developed, such as tracing the historical origins of the Olympics and explaining how spectator emotions can lead to disputes. However, there are minor inaccuracies in factual details, such as stating that 45 countries competed in the recent football world cup. The student's position is clear throughout, and the arguments are extended and supported, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving logically from an introduction to historical context, counterarguments about competition, and a concluding reflection. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the begining', 'As the time went by', and 'Despite all of these', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or awkward ('Worst carse senario'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related ideas, but referencing and logical flow occasionally falter, such as the sudden shift into the final paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'active participation', 'hospitality', and 'adrenaline rush'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'Olympica', 'oraginze', 'through out', 'begining', 'riverly', 'haterat', 'carse senario', 'conforntation', 'adrinalin', and 'sensative'. These errors do not seriously impede overall communication, but their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('many country feel pride', 'people tends', 'one side win and another side lost'), missing articles, and prepositions ('on such events' instead of 'in'). While these errors rarely completely obscure meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact readability, placing the grammar securely in the Band 5.5 to 6 range.
