Student answer (Band 5.5)
Supporters of this trend argue that worldwide sports such as Olympics or the Football World Cup are better way to boost the freindship between the countries, on the other hand critics believe that these could create the competition. While both sides have their own points, I firmly believe that this is best way to build up the relationship with other countries.
Firstly, sports are getting popular day by day, nowadays these are played on national as well as international level. Such as football world cup is one of the favourite game among the world. This world cup is played in multiple countries, where different nation's people come to watch the game. This is a good way to share our countries culture with other people, where people could learn different things from others.
Secondly, others think that it could create the discrimination between the individuals of distinct nations. For instance, people do not know about the different languages like English which is very common in the forgien countries. Some people feel insult, when they visit to another countries for games because they are not able to speak that languag
In my opinion, international sports events are benificial for the counteries, as they are providing the opportunity to residents of others nation to learn other cultures, knowledge. These games built the nations wealth such as people book the hotels and they like to go for explore the country and spend amount on shopping.
In conclusion, although these sports events could create competion between the people but I strongly believe that these world cup more benificial for the nation via providing employment and cultural knowlage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and providing an opinion, which satisfies the basic prompt requirements. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions cultural sharing in paragraphs two and four, the explanation stays repetitive rather than being extended with specific examples. The alternative view regarding competition is briefly touched upon in paragraph three through a weak argument about language barriers, but this idea is not fully explored or supported. Consequently, the position is discernible throughout the text, but the overall treatment of the arguments is basic, placing the response firmly in the middle band for task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organization with a clear introduction and conclusion, and basic cohesive markers such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are employed to structure the text. Nevertheless, there is a lack of clear overall progression between the body paragraphs, resulting in a somewhat disjointed flow. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or repetitive, with referencing occasionally becoming unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in sentences like 'others think that it could create the discrimination'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion requires better linking to guide the reader smoothly through the contrasting arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message of the prompt. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'discrimination', 'beneficial', and 'employment', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, including 'freindship', 'forgien', 'languag', 'benificial', and 'competion'. Additionally, awkward phrasing such as 'built the nations wealth' and 'go for explore' demonstrates restricted control over collocations. These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, marred by grammatical errors such as missing or incorrect articles ('such as Olympics', 'to another countries'), subject-verb agreement issues ('these world cup more benificial'), and awkward prepositional phrases ('among the world'). Frequent errors in punctuation and grammar are present throughout the essay, which can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning usually remains retrievable. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of error-free complex sentence patterns.
