Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have varied thoughts regarding organizing sports events internationaly. Some believe that such events bring the countries together, while others believe that such events causes competition among countries. In my opinion, international sports events are good way to bring countries together.
Those who think that international sports events bring countries together believe that such events create a sense of oness among people of different countries. When people visit other countries to enjoy the sports events, they tend to meet with people of different culture. They learn about new culture, their traditions, and explore local cusines. This way people of host country and vistiors exchange there cultures and create sense of oness among themselves. This helps to create coordinal relations among nations.
On the other hand, some believe that such international sports events only causes competition among nations. Every person or sports person visting the host country have feeling of competativness for each other. this results to arrogance for each other and the harmony of the countries is disturbed.
In my opinion, conducting sports events internationally like football worl cup and olympics is a good way to bring the world together. Such events not only improve the economic condition of the host country but people learn about each others culture. When people from different countries meet each other, it creat feeling of onenes. Givernment should take steps to conduct such events frequently in different nations.
In conclusion, such events are a good way to bring thenation together rather than creating a feeling of competativeness among each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and providing a clear personal opinion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which keeps the score at this level. For instance, while the benefits of cultural exchange and economic improvement are mentioned, the counter-argument regarding competition leading to arrogance is somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on general assertions rather than extended explanation. The position is stated clearly in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion, but the overall depth of support for each viewpoint remains somewhat basic and repetitive in places.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each main idea housed in its own distinct section. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, relying on repetitive transitional phrases such as 'some believe that' and 'this way' to link ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in sentences like 'this results to arrogance', which slightly disrupts the smooth flow of information between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating straightforward ideas about sports and international relations. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'coordinal', 'competativness', and 'cusines', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word-form errors that reflect a limited and minimally adequate lexical range. While meaning is generally conveyed, errors like 'internationaly', 'oness', and 'visting' cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and multi-clause sentences. However, there is a limited range of structures successfully mastered, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by errors in grammar, prepositions, and verb forms, such as 'causes competition', 'exchange there cultures', and 'results to arrogance'. Punctuation and articles also show frequent lapses, including missing capitalisation at the start of sentences like 'this results'. These errors reflect a restricted control of grammar, though communication is rarely completely blocked.
