Student answer (Band 5.5)
Npwadays, sports activities and competition are becoming popular in the world. Some people argue that playing together at inernational level is a great thing to connect countries, while others believe that this leads to competition and affects relationship among countries. I believe that countires who play ohether is a great way for connection.
On the one hand, If countires participate in competition such as football world cup, olympics, are a good sources for economy. Many people are interested to watch sports competition between countries and it gives them exciting vibes as their own nation players are playimng at inetrnational level. Although playing at world level games are hard to select teams, it brings money for that country and it increases financial growth. This can help country to spend more money on sports games. Additionally, countires who organise the event in their own coutry have more benefits such as popular players stays in thier countries and travel in their country which is again improve their econnomy. For example, Canada organized fifa world cup though many people got opportunity to work and it reduces unemployment. Therefore, sports event are great way to connect countries and it is a beneficial source to earn money.
On the other hand, if international games will organize, there might be a chance of competition and large impact on friendship between them such as some essential decision which taken by this events. Many countries have bond between them such as transfering goods to each other as well as substancial money transfer or they feel that they might be chetaed due to sports events. So, this can affect their relationship and these decisions also affects other countries. One great example is China who is great football team however due to some circumstances they were not selected in team though they cease their supply of goods to other nations. As a result, their bonds might affects due to international sports events.
In conclusion, people think that world cup games are right way to bring countires whereas, others think that it can create conflict between contries. I beileve that the more countries play together at world level the more benefit for them, the lesser contries participate the less advantages. Although internation sports evnets may creat some conflicts, it has more profit such as improve economy and connection.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and providing an opinion, which sits at this level. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes unclear. For instance, the discussion on economic benefits touches on tourism and employment, as seen in the mention of Canada and the FIFA World Cup, but the reasoning remains somewhat basic and under-developed. Similarly, the counterargument concerning conflict introduces unusual examples, such as China ceasing the supply of goods due to team selection issues, which are neither fully explained nor logical in the context of the prompt. While a position is presented throughout the essay, the arguments lack the extension and depth required to reach a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs with opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion within and between sentences is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but referencing and logical transitions between sentences can be confusing. For example, sentences such as 'Although playing at world level games are hard to select teams, it brings money...' lack smooth transitions and precise referents, making the progression of ideas occasionally disjointed rather than naturally flowing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Instances of spelling and morphological inaccuracies include 'Npwadays', 'inernational', 'countires', 'ohether', 'playimng', 'inetrnational', 'substancial', 'chetaed', and 'beileve'. Furthermore, lexical chunks and collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'good sources for economy' instead of 'beneficial for the economy' or 'bring countires' instead of 'bring countries together'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary, inaccuracies restrict the overall precision and fluency of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside frequent attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and clause structures. Examples include 'countries who play ohether is a great way', 'If countires participate in competition such as football world cup, olympics, are a good sources', and 'if international games will organize, there might be a chance'. Punctuation errors, such as comma splices and unnecessary commas, also appear throughout the text. These frequent errors in basic and complex structures require the reader to decode the meaning in places.
