Student answer (Band 5.5)
Sports events are entertainment source for public. people really like to watch. I am agree with thr both points because yes its a good way to build relation between countries but also it creates fights among them.I will discuss my views on both points.
First of all, olympics or any world cup develop good relation between countries and because of this world cup people spend money on tickets which help in country 's economy. it will goes on tv and internet which lead good affect on the country. for example, fifa world cup was organised canada. Many people from different countries come to watch matches. They spend so much in canada' economy. They pay for tickets and immigration fees for visa. so, money flow increase in that country. for this reason, i would like to say it is good to have world cup in any country for their economy.
but my other point of view is also valid because it increase competition between countries. People want their country to win. For intance, some people spend money on bets.there are many apps online in which people bet on their favourite player and if they loose money, they become unconciou and lost their self control. sometime in stadiums they start broke chairs if their player loose. This create negative relation between countries because people play with their emotions rather than for enertainment purpose. it also gives pressure to player to won for their countries.
At the end, i would like to say both points have their pros and cons. but i think international events are held every year because its help boost economy and for proud moment for country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and providing a personal opinion, which keeps the score at this level. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on economic benefits touches briefly on ticket sales and visas in Canada, but the points are generalized and lack deep expansion. Similarly, the argument regarding negative competition and fan behavior is introduced with points about betting and stadium vandalism, but these ideas are not fully explored or connected back deeply to the broader notion of international friendship. The position is stated, but the support for each view needs more elaboration and relevant examples to reach higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression of ideas, moving from economic advantages to competitive drawbacks. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sudden shift in pronouns and transitional phrases like 'At the end'. Paragraphing is utilized to separate different viewpoints, but transitional devices between sentences within paragraphs could be managed more effectively to ensure smoother transitions and better clarity throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about sports and economics, utilizing terms like 'entertainment source', 'economy', and 'competition'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, such as writing 'entertainment source' instead of 'an entertainment source', 'loose' instead of 'lose', 'unconciou' instead of 'unconscious', and 'won' instead of 'win'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips stem from a basic resource level and occasionally cause some minor difficulty for the reader, fitting the requirements for this specific band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing exhibits a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including missing articles ('country 's economy'), incorrect prepositions ('organised canada'), subject-verb agreement issues ('it will goes on tv'), and capitalization errors at the start of sentences and proper nouns. Punctuation is also inconsistently applied with missing spaces after periods and commas. These frequent errors in grammar and mechanics can cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning remains partially understandable.
