Student answer (Band 4.5)

International sports events influence everyone towards games. Some people believe that international sports events help countries connect with one another, while some think that it creates competition and rage between countries. I will discuss both the view points and provide my opinion at last.

First and foremost, games are the best activities liked by everyone in every country. Generally, sports events on global basis help people understand which country is leading in the games. Therefore, game lovers choose their countries according to their perfromance and interest, which they want to support. Basically, it does bring people together who like games and then encourage country they want. For instance, my nephew is Indian and he loves Cricket, he always want Australia to win in World cup.

On the other hand, They does create competition and rage between

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

Your response addresses the task only partially, presenting limited and under-developed ideas regarding whether international sports events bring countries together or create competition and rage. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met; your response contains only 136 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. While you briefly mention both views in your introduction and attempt to outline some examples, such as your nephew supporting Australia in cricket despite being Indian, the discussion remains truncated and incomplete. To reach a higher level, you must fully develop your ideas with well-supported arguments and meet the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation in your writing, with a basic introduction and body paragraph structure, but the response lacks clear overall progression due to being cut off mid-sentence. You attempt to use cohesive devices and transition signals such as 'First and foremost' and 'On the other hand', but referencing and logical flow are compromised by the very short length and the abrupt ending of the essay. To improve under this criterion, you need to ensure that every main body paragraph is fully completed and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout a well-structured essay of standard length.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, with noticeable errors that may cause some difficulty for the reader. There are instances of awkward word choice and collocation, such as 'influence everyone towards games' and 'global basis' instead of 'a global scale'. You also make word form and spelling errors, such as 'perfromance' instead of 'performance' and 'view points' instead of 'viewpoints'. To improve your lexical score, you should aim to expand your range of vocabulary and use less common lexical items more accurately and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, such as subject-verb agreement issues in phrases like 'They does create competition and rage' and awkward phrasing in 'which they want to support' and 'then encourage country they want'. Additionally, articles and pluralisation are sometimes misused. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase your control over basic and complex sentence forms and significantly reduce the frequency of grammatical errors.
