Student answer (Band 5.5)

The sport events held at international level bring two countaries together by sharing eachother's ethical values and religious norms. Those values and norms reflects the sense of identity for a country, and others have to respect these.

Most countries have the identical values while others have distinct values that varies from country to country. These International sports, such as Olympics provide opppotunity for different countries to share a connection and bond of friendship with eachother. That's the reason, they meet eachother with open heartly and knows that only one team is going to win the sport event, so they praises and wishes eachother before the match starts. On other hand, some countries who are rivals to eachother, such type of events are the source of competition for them. Those country create a sitution like 'Do or Die' and make it as a battlefield for themselves, and hurt the values of eachother.

For example, Pakistan and India both are the famous countries and are known for their rivalry. When both countries encounter eachother in a battlefield, then the match not held between the team, it held between the countries because of their so called rivalry. Due to this reason, the teams play like a competition and tries to hurt opponent's values and norms. Apart from the battlefield, the people of both countries tries to let down the opponent team by sharing or making fun of players over the social media. This act makes such events like a competition in order to defame eachother and are impatiently waiting for the opponent's give up.

On conclusion, playing international games creates the sense of friendship as well as competition, and all depend on the countries relationship with eachother.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all parts of the task by discussing both views—that international sports bring countries together and that they create competition—and you include your own opinion. However, your ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, when you mention that sports share ethical values, this point is not fully extended with concrete examples. Your position is generally clear throughout the response, particularly in your conclusion where you state that the outcome depends on the relationship between the countries. To reach a higher level, you need to extend your ideas with more thorough explanations and fully develop each main point with robust supporting details rather than relying on brief assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your response demonstrates a basic organizational structure with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing the views, and a conclusion. There is some overall progression of ideas, moving from general statements about shared values to specific examples like Pakistan and India. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty, mechanical, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'eachother' and simple transitional phrases like 'On other hand' and 'On conclusion'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear. To improve, you should employ a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure smoother logical transitions between sentences and paragraphs to create a clearer overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary choice is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary items, such as 'ethical values', 'religious norms', and 'rivalry', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling, such as 'countaries', 'opppotunity', 'open heartly', and 'sitution'. These lexical inaccuracies sometimes cause minor difficulty or hesitation for the reader. To achieve a higher standard, you need to expand your lexical range, improve your spelling control, and use less common vocabulary with greater precision regarding word formation and collocation, such as using 'open-heartedly' or 'fierce competition' correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional or multi-clause structures, but your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are noticeable errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles, including 'The sport events', 'These International sports... provide', 'values... reflects', 'match not held', and 'countries... tries'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally puzzle over your meaning. To reach the next level, you need to demonstrate a greater variety of error-free complex structures and pay closer attention to grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding verb forms, singular and plural agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns.
