Student answer (Band 5.5)
Whether International sports events create a sense of togetherness or they create conflicts by raising competition is a highly debateable topic. Although many people believe that these competition are the reasons for comeptition, but I believe that these tournaments bring people together.
To begin with the negative impacts of these tournament, I believe that these competition make some people with short temper to fight with each other because of the result that a game produces, For Example, There was a news report published after a fight erupted among a group of people after the England vs Argentina Fifa semi final match. Also, in some cases people support different players from different teams which also leads to debates and even fights at some point. Thirdly, these competitions are believed to cost the taxpayers of the host countries more and more amount of money.
However, these competitions create a sense of belongingness among people for their home countries. People support there countries while they are away from there home and pray for great results. Secondly, These competitions motivate young players to practice and earn top spots in these tournaments. According to a survey conducted in year 2022, Many Individuals got special recognition after they participated in these major tournaments which resulted in great success in there future. Last but not the least, competitions at world level helps to increase sports influence among people across the globe and motivate them to stay healthy and stay away from diseases.
To conclude, although these competitions have some demirts, I still believe that the merits are one that people should focus on.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state your position clearly: the introduction says you believe tournaments “bring people together,” and the conclusion maintains that their merits outweigh their drawbacks. Relevant points include conflict between supporters, costs to host countries, national pride, and inspiration for young athletes. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that events create belonging could be developed by showing how supporters from different countries interact, while the survey about participants gaining recognition needs clearer detail or a more specific example. The discussion of competition focuses mainly on fights and costs, so it does not fully explore how rivalry might damage relations between countries. Develop each main idea with a clear explanation and a well-chosen example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting drawbacks, a paragraph explaining benefits, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the two sides. Within paragraphs, however, the progression can feel mechanical because several points are introduced in sequence with “Also,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” without always showing how they connect. Some references are unclear, particularly “these competitions” in the opening, where the wording makes it uncertain whether you mean events or competition itself. Improve cohesion by linking each example directly to the point it supports and using pronouns and repeated key terms consistently. More varied transitions would also make the argument flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “host countries,” “taxpayers,” “tournaments,” “recognition,” and “sports influence.” These choices help communicate ideas about international events and their effects. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “debateable,” “comeptition,” “demirts,” and “there” where “their” is intended. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “belongingness among people for their home countries” and “earn top spots” could be expressed more idiomatically. Repeated use of “competitions” and “people” limits flexibility. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing international relations, national pride, and sporting rivalry, and proofread spelling and possessives carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although many people believe…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “Although many people believe …, but I believe” incorrectly combines two contrasting structures; use either “Although …, I believe” or “Many people believe …, but I believe.” In “these competition are,” the plural noun form is needed, and “competitions at world level helps” has a subject–verb agreement error. Capitalisation and comma use are inconsistent, especially around “For Example.” Aim for more controlled complex sentences and check agreement and punctuation during revision.
