Student answer (Band 5.5)
Several people believes that international sports events are a good way to bring countries together while, other belives it creates comptetion. This essay will disucss both the views and I completely agree that sports plays a vital role in uniting countries.
On one hand, some people believe famous sports, like The Olympics or the Football World Cup binds the countries together. It developes a immense love and respect for a particular team or player from across the globe. Fan messmerise their performance and support their skills rather than nationality. For instance, there are many cricket lovers in India, and many of them support players for Agentina and Australia. This creates a playfull environment for the players and motivates them to play far from their mother land. Moreover, this enthusiam results in uniting the countries together in the name of sports.
On another hand, there is a believe that, sport creates a tuff situation between past rivalry countries. It is often observed that player in urge of winning the match creates a planic like situation againt the player from other country. It leads to arrogance behaviours and tends to provoke a fight amoungs player from opponent place. For example, In recent times many Football players have been shown a green card to leave the ground while on match between Liverpool and Manchester. This shows bad relations between player from different region.
In conclusion I believe, sports should be taken as form of healthy competition accross countries as it showers love irrespective of region and player should have great sportsmen spirit to showcase respect for any player or team.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear opinion in the introduction, saying sports events can unite countries; the conclusion returns to this position. The first body paragraph gives a relevant example of Indian cricket fans supporting Argentine and Australian players. However, the explanation of how this support brings countries together is brief, and the opposing view is less convincingly supported: the Liverpool–Manchester example concerns club football and does not clearly demonstrate competition between countries. Some claims, such as events creating “a playful environment,” also need clearer explanation. Develop each side with a more directly relevant example and explain how it supports the point. The response meets the stated length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On another hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some links between ideas are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always clear. For example, the first paragraph moves from fans supporting foreign players to motivating players to perform away from home, without fully explaining the connection. In the second, the claim about rivalry leads to a club-match example that does not clearly support the point about countries. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “rivalry,” “opponent,” “arrogance,” and “sportsmen spirit,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “belives,” “comptetion,” “messmerise,” and “enthusiam.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “creates a planic like situation,” “showers love,” and “play far from their mother land” do not express the intended ideas clearly. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than using ambitious wording without checking its meaning. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard phrases would make your argument easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “that,” and “which,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Several people believes” should be “Several people believe,” and “It developes a immense love” has both agreement and article problems. In “famous sports … binds,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “player … creates” and “player should have” also need plural forms in context. Punctuation around introductory phrases and clauses is sometimes inaccurate. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and clear.
