Student answer (Band 6.0)
One of the most conspicious trends of today's world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that the international sports events plays a crucial role in uniting the countries while, others oppose it by saying that leads to competition and fights between countries. In my opinion, the former apprehension is warranted and so should be accepted.
To commence with, there are deluge of arguments in favour that it creates friendship between countries. To explain it, the most preponderant one is people come to know people from different cultures and their background which makes them curious to share their feelings with other countries despite the competition. It can not only help us in maintaining brotherhood between us but also helps to acquire new skills which one country lacks. Therefore, it benefits the overall wellbeing of the country and maintains healthy relationship between countries.
On the other hand, a section of society contradicts the above said view by providing some justification. They ponder that due to sports events the countries are jealous of each other's success and the chances of hatred, negativity and conflicts may occur. To explicate it, due to high competition people can turn into greed and can cause harm to others which may be detrimental for the wholesome welfare of the country. Moreover, it does have some pitfalls as it can detriorate the image of one country and the other can win by using harmful tactics.
To conclude, although it can result in hate and wide competition between countries, it creates friendship and social connection among countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear preference for the idea that international sport unites countries. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including cultural exchange and learning new skills, while the second explains how rivalry could lead to jealousy or harmful behaviour. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than illustrated or developed: for example, the claim that events help countries maintain “brotherhood” would be stronger with a specific example of athletes or supporters interacting across cultures. Your conclusion restates the contrast but does not explain why the benefits outweigh the risks, so your own position is less fully supported than the discussion of the two sides. Develop each main point with a clear explanation or relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits to the drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help orient the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several transitions feel formulaic, including “To commence with” and “To explicate it,” and the links between individual claims are sometimes unclear. For instance, the move from cultural understanding to acquiring skills needs a more explicit explanation. Use simpler, more natural transitions and connect each supporting sentence directly to the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You show an adequate range and attempt less common vocabulary, including “colossal upsurge,” “preponderant,” “detrimental,” and “wholesome welfare.” These choices demonstrate ambition, but several are inaccurate or unnatural in context: “conspicious trends” is misspelled, “there are deluge of arguments” has an unsuitable form, and “turn into greed” does not express the intended idea naturally. Phrases such as “the above said view” and “wide competition” are also awkward. Meaning is generally recoverable, so the vocabulary does not prevent understanding, but the frequent mismatch between formal words and their context limits precision. Prefer familiar, accurate collocations, and check spelling and word forms when using less common vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and a sentence using “not only … but also.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the international sports events plays” has subject–verb disagreement, and “there are deluge of arguments” is missing an article. In “while, others oppose it by saying that leads,” the punctuation is misplaced and the clause lacks a clear subject. There are also agreement and parallel-structure problems in “it can not only help us … but also helps.” These errors do not usually block communication, but they reduce accuracy. Check agreement, articles, and complete clause structure, especially in longer sentences.
