Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains how athletes can train together, share experiences and promote their cultures, while the second presents competition and disputes as possible outcomes. Your conclusion also gives a position, stating that competition is the stronger effect. However, the response only partially develops the discussion. The claim that events bring countries together is repeated several times, and the example about players spending time together is not explained in enough detail to show how this affects relations between nations. The opposing view is even less developed: wanting to win and disagreeing with decisions are mentioned, but their consequences are not explored. Make your opinion clearer from the introduction and support each view with a specific, explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the flip side” and “To conclude” help signal changes in direction. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first paragraph moves from athletes’ friendships to cultural promotion, authorities, football and an alleged survey without clear links between these points. Some connections are also unclear, as in “In the one hand” and “that thing is also correct.” Repetition of the same claim about bringing countries together further limits development. Group related ideas, use clearer references, and make each paragraph follow a simple point–explanation–example sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “promote their culture,” “friendship,” “competition” and “dispute.” These choices show that you can communicate the main subject and some key ideas. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make the writing difficult to read in places, for example “compitition,” “eassay,” “countiries” and “friendhsip.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “a better idea to bring countries together” and “creates envy in players.” Aim to learn accurate topic-related collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish friendly interaction from rivalry and make your arguments clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and basic grammar. For example, “because of many individuals come” uses an incorrect clause pattern, while “Every country contribute” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “players are not agree with,” the verb form is faulty, and “I believe that it creates competition” has an unclear pronoun reference. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where ideas run together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and verb forms.
