Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, some people hold this perspection that globally sports events are the best way to strengthen the relationship bonds between the nations, while on the other hand some folks think that these games create competition, hate between countries. In my perspection, games plays significant role in creating a peace and good relations between the nations. This essay will discuss both the viewpoints in following paragraphs.

Initially, sports plays important role in every person life so some people believe that it is the best way to bring countries togeather because international sports held in different countries and people from every corner of the world comes to see it. To illustrate it more, there is a exchange of culture and values between them which will build the trust on each other. Furthermore, it will also enhance the economic growth of a country because people spend a big chunk of money to buy tickets, book hotels, eat food and pay taxes to the government which will improve the economic growth of a country.

On the otherside, some individuals believe that these sports creates the sense of competition. To explain it more, every nation have their on teams and people of the same nation loves them and everybody wants that their team must win the match and this thing create the feeling of selfishness and competition between the distinct countries. Moreover, some people spread fake gestures about the nation that they didn't organize the tournament very well and this thing ruins the image of the nation which will destroy the relationship bond between them.

In Conclusion, although games are the essential part of our life and build strong bonds between the nations, but their negative consequences cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your position clearly: you believe international sports can build peace and good relations, while the opposing paragraph explains how national loyalty may intensify competition and damage a country’s image. The examples of cultural exchange, spending by visitors, and criticism of event organisation are relevant to the topic. However, the positive case is developed more fully than the negative one, which relies mainly on general claims about selfishness and criticism. The conclusion also repeats your position without drawing together the two arguments. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how sporting contact can create lasting cooperation, and support the competition argument with a specific example or clearer explanation of its effects.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally keep to their central purpose, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “On the other side” help readers follow the discussion. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “To illustrate it more” and “To explain it more,” and several sentences join multiple ideas without a clear relationship. For example, the sentence about visitors spending money moves from cultural exchange to economic growth without explaining how this supports the main claim about countries coming together. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the links between each example and the paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “international sports,” “exchange of culture and values,” “economic growth,” and “competition.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “negative consequences cannot be neglected.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “perspection” is used where “perspective” is intended, “relationship bonds” is unnatural, and “fake gestures” does not clearly express the intended criticism. Spelling errors such as “togeather” and “otherside” are also noticeable. Build a more reliable range of collocations for discussing international relations and sporting events, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “although,” so the response is not limited to short statements. The main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “sports plays” and “every nation have” do not match their subjects, while “a exchange” has an incorrect article. In “people … comes to see it,” the verb does not agree with the plural subject, and “although …, but” combines two contrasting structures unnecessarily. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete and clearly connected.
