Student answer (Band 5.5)
International sports events held around the world like olympics, football or cricket matches bring the countries together while some believe that it creates a competition. let's discuss both point of views in detail.
The positive effects of these events arranged at international level are very vast. First of all it increases the tourisim all around the world where these events take place. It becomes the source of amusement for the people. Sense of healthy competition develops among the countries. It gives a chance to people to bring out their talent and polish their abilities. Sources of income are also increased. Ordinary people also becomes famous through these events who have exceptional qualities.
The negative effect of such events are people take the defeat in a game very personally. Due to easy means of communication an oline fight starts between the people of specific countries sometimes leading to abusive languages. Countries which are rivals from the beginning of their existance like India and Pakistan take an ordinary game like a war, as we always observe in international cricket matches played between them. in such cases the international games do have some worse outcomes.
In my opinion these international games are more benificial for the countries. The benefits outweigh the disadvantages. These events are economically very helpful for the countries. It also bring many countries close to eachother, cultural benefits are beyond immagination.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear opinion: international events have benefits that outweigh their disadvantages. The discussion includes relevant points such as tourism, income, healthy competition, and hostility between rival countries, with India and Pakistan as an example. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that events bring countries closer is not supported with a specific example, and the negative view focuses mainly on online arguments rather than broader competition between nations. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, which limits the space available to develop and support your points. Extend the discussion with concrete examples and explain how each one supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, one on drawbacks, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. Basic signposting such as “First of all,” “The negative effect,” and “In my opinion” helps distinguish the sections. However, connections within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical, and several ideas are placed next to one another without showing their relationship—for example, tourism, amusement, competition, talent, and income in the benefits paragraph. The conclusion also introduces cultural benefits without developing them earlier. Use linking phrases to explain cause and effect, and make sure each paragraph develops a central point in a more connected sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “healthy competition,” “tourism,” “defeat,” and “abusive languages.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “economically very helpful” and “exceptional qualities.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “bring out their talent,” “take the defeat,” and “cultural benefits are beyond imagination.” Spelling errors such as “tourisim,” “benificial,” and “immagination,” along with inconsistent capitalization of “Olympics,” reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural collocations for discussing international relations and explain ideas with more precise vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including “Countries which are rivals from the beginning of their existence…” and the sentence explaining that online arguments can lead to abusive language. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation remain. For example, “these events…creates” should use a plural verb, “Ordinary people also becomes famous” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “It also bring” should be “They also bring” or “This also brings.” Several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops, and the opening sentence is not clearly punctuated. Check agreement and sentence boundaries carefully, and practise combining ideas accurately using a wider range of complex structures.
