Student answer (Band 6.0)
People have varied thoughts about the international sports events including The Olympics and the Football World Cup, are whether help to maintain the better relationship between countries or not. Although these events may create some issues among nations, I believe they develop positive relationship between countries.
One main reason why some people support international sports programs bring countries together is that they improve diplomatic relationship in countries. When teams from different nations participate in these events and compete with them in the ground, they spend time with people who have different languages and cultures and respect each others. Through teamwork and good behaviour, they represent their nations in front of the large audience, which help them ro reduce their conflicts.
Others who believe that international sports competitions cannot help to improve the connection of different countries due to the previous conflicts they experienced. Sometimes, countries show their aggression against other opponent countries either in the playground by hurting to player or after winning the game by posting negative comments. All these activities eventually may make more worse their reationship after these games.
In my opinion, despite of having some poltical issues between countries, I believe, most of the time international sports events help to create better relationship in the countries. By organizing such events, countries get opportunities to interact with opponent countries leaders, which may lead to positive impact on the nation. These events also can helps to expand the businesses between nations.
In conclusion, while some consider international sports programs do not have potential to develop friendship among countries, I still believe that these games can be beneficial to improve the diplomatic relationship and trade betbeen the nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a consistent opinion: the introduction and conclusion support the idea that international events generally improve relations. The two body paragraphs also give relevant reasons, including cultural contact, respectful behaviour, aggression, and political tensions. This covers the task well, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that athletes’ teamwork can reduce conflicts would be stronger with a specific example or a clearer explanation of how this influence reaches governments or the public. The opposing view is relevant, but its examples of hurting players and negative comments could be developed further to show their effect on relations between countries. More precise support and fuller development would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “One main reason,” “Others,” and “In conclusion” signal the stages of your argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence is difficult to follow because it combines the topic and question awkwardly, while “Others who believe…” does not form a complete transition into the opposing argument. The opinion paragraph also repeats the position already stated in the introduction without adding much progression. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports to make the flow more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “diplomatic relationship,” “different languages and cultures,” “aggression,” and “trade,” showing an adequate range for discussing the issue. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “positive impact” and “organizing such events.” However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “sports programs” is not the best term for international competitions, “compete with them in the ground” is unnatural, and “make more worse” is incorrect. Spelling errors such as “reationship,” “poltical,” and “betbeen” also affect the overall impression. Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and proofread spelling; this would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although these events may create some issues…” and a relative clause in “countries, which may lead to positive impact.” The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammar occur across the response. For instance, the opening sentence has an unclear structure, and “One main reason why some people support international sports programs bring countries together” combines clause patterns incorrectly. There are also agreement and verb-form errors in “which help them” and “These events also can helps,” as well as problems with articles and prepositions. Work on building complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, and using articles consistently while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
