Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is an ongoing debate on do the sports competitions at international level brings people together or fostering a competitive spirit amid individuals. Although having matches between nations instill negative traits in some, if not all, individuals; I believe this offers an arena to people of distinct nations to come closer.

On the one hand, somtetimes patrotism overtake a healthy sport competition. In other words, feeling of being a part of that country, representing in the world underline everything else. Which have resulted in a cut-throat competion amid spectators. It happened very often in the cricket worldcup matches between India and pakistan. During the match people become agressive and ready to fight for their players, if anyone say anything. Thus, these kind of events transformed into a place of fight.

However, these events act as an opportunity for the fans of athletes to watching them playing in reality, irrespective of their country. They usually encourage the players abilty and technique to play. They enjoying observing them and try to know more about them, such as in the olympics people from all over the world united to see the shorlisted players' game. It connects people to share their views and give them a sense of satisfaction that other feels the same.

In conclusion, I would therefore say competitions beyond the boundaries not always encourage competition, it would be a good place for inhabitants to know one another by sharing their view on players games and can spend quality time. I think these events should be organised positvely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: the introduction says international events can bring people closer, while the conclusion reinforces this position. The India–Pakistan cricket example supports the view that national rivalry can become hostile, and the Olympics example illustrates shared interest across borders. This is relevant coverage of the task. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first is explained through a specific scenario, whereas the second relies mainly on fans watching and discussing athletes. The claim that people “united” at the Olympics would be stronger with a concrete example of how the event encourages interaction or mutual understanding. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation and supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the opposing views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “However,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical, though. For example, “Which have resulted in a cut-throat competition” is a sentence fragment, and “It connects people” has an unclear reference: it is not immediately obvious whether “it” means the event, watching athletes, or sharing views. The conclusion also repeats the idea of people sharing views without adding a final implication. Make references explicit and link each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “patriotism,” “cut-throat competition,” “irrespective,” and “sense of satisfaction.” These choices show an effort to discuss both rivalry and shared enthusiasm. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning less precise: “somettimes,” “patrotism,” “competion,” and “agressive” are examples, while “underline everything else” is an unnatural expression in this context. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “fans of athletes” and “players’ game.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose wording that clearly expresses the relationship between spectators, athletes, and national events.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and more complex forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a sentence with “if anyone say anything.” This gives the response some structural variety, but several grammatical errors remain. The opening question structure, “debate on do the sports competitions … brings,” has incorrect word order and subject–verb agreement. “Which have resulted…” is a fragment, and “They enjoying observing them” lacks the correct verb form. There are also errors in articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “feeling of being a part” and “these kind of events.” Review sentence boundaries and check that each clause has a complete subject and verb; then proofread agreement and verb forms.
