Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is believed by some individuals that international sports events, like The olympic or the Football world cup, are a wise decisons for all nation's to bring them together, whereas rest of people believe that it create conflicts, compitition and bad relation between countries. This essay will discuss both perspective before explaining why i believe that it is good way to improve countries relation as well as it opens so many oppertunities for both nation's.

On the one hand, some individual opine that international sports events should be held as it creates new opportunites for both countires. To elaborate this, due to these events there are more employment opportunities occure for each country and as it helps in economic growth for the country. For example, when the Olympics or the Football world cup held people move to another country to see the events. as a result they can stay in hotels plus they can buy things from that country. Therfore, it helps to improve economic growth for nation. Furthermore, when these events held, people understand the different cultures as well as local language. As a result, it feels close and emotional attachment between two nation.

On the other hand, others argue that it is not safe as it creates many conflicts, feeling of compitition between nation's. To explain this, because of the international sports events individual feel compitition as they are playing against each others country. For instance, when there is India vs Pakistan cricket games held individuals feel compititiors to against each other.

In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks of events like Olympics and The football world cup, I believe that it is more crucial to organize events like this due to more opportunies as well as gaining knowledge about different languages and cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and make your own position clear: you support international events because they can create economic opportunities and encourage cultural understanding. The tourism example—visitors using hotels and buying local goods—gives relevant support, and the India–Pakistan cricket example illustrates how rivalry can arise. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The benefits are explained in some detail, while the competition argument is mostly asserted; explain how sporting rivalry can intensify national tensions or give a specific consequence. Your point that people learn local languages is also introduced but not developed. Extending these ideas and linking examples more explicitly to friendship or conflict would make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument, and the ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, several links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “To elaborate this” and “To explain this, because of…” do not connect the explanation smoothly, while “as a result” is repeated. The sentence about cultural understanding and emotional attachment also needs a clearer link between its ideas. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions to make cohesion less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “employment opportunities,” “economic growth,” “cultures,” and “conflicts.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “emotional attachment,” though its meaning in context is not fully clear. Overall, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “decisons,” “compitition,” “oppertunities,” and “countires” recur or appear in key points. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “a wise decisions” and “feel compititiors.” Build a more accurate set of collocations for discussing international relations and rivalry, and proofread spelling and word forms. This will help your ideas come across more clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the introduction and clauses beginning “when” and “as a result.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “due to these events there are more employment opportunities occure for each country and as it helps…” combines clauses without a sound grammatical structure. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “it create conflicts” and “when these events held,” as well as article, plural, and punctuation problems. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense in each clause. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to follow.
