Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views whether international sports make strong relations between nations or not. Although some people consider that these sports bring countries together, i believe that these sports arise some problems between nations due to several reasons.

On the one hand, there are few reasons why international sports assist to develop strong relation between countries. First and the foremost, people can get an opportunities to play at international level which helps them to know about different culture and languages that encourages them to become multilingual and experienced person owing to which they always respect of other culture regions, language and culture in turn of which they become good friends. In addition to it, Countries must cooperate to organise major events because they would arrange all facilities for international visitors and provide safe amenities. this can strenght diplomatic relationships.

On the other hand, according to my perspective, it can arise some conflicts and jealousy between nations. Firstly, when people play together sometime they can not take first trophy from their counterpart team, which gives birth to jeaoulosy as a consequence, they can take wrong path to win the prize as taking drugs, cheating that create conflict between countries. Apart from it, players feel stress when they lose the match in turn of which they tell some wrong words to other team and discrimination rgarding culture, language which can arise conflicts between them.

To conclude, while internaitonal sports are necessary to know about different backgrounds and culture, i believe that it can arise conflicts, jealosy between nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and make your own position clear: you acknowledge that sporting events can build relationships, but argue that they may also create conflict and jealousy. The discussion is relevant, and the examples of cultural exchange, cooperation in hosting events, cheating and hostile comments help explain your points. However, the supporting ideas are unevenly developed. The benefits paragraph makes several claims about learning languages and becoming friends without showing clearly how this happens, while the conflict paragraph gives more specific examples. To strengthen the response, explain the cause-and-effect links more fully and add a concrete example, such as how teams or spectators respond after a close international match. This would make both views more balanced and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, the long sentence beginning “First and the foremost” joins several ideas about opportunities, culture, language and friendship, making their relationships difficult to follow. The repeated “in turn of which” also does not clearly connect the ideas. Use shorter sentences and more precise references, and organise each paragraph around one main point followed by its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international visitors,” “diplomatic relationships,” “discrimination” and “conflicts,” and you attempt to express ideas beyond basic statements. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “countries,” “culture” and “conflicts,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. Examples include “take first trophy,” “take wrong path,” and “arise some problems.” There are also spelling errors, including “strenght,” “jeaoulosy” and “internaitonal.” Aim to learn topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for winning, unsporting behaviour and international cooperation would make your arguments clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which,” “because” and “when,” so the response shows some range. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and basic grammar recur. For instance, “people can get an opportunities” has an article–plural mismatch, and “they always respect of other culture regions” has an incomplete grammatical pattern. The sentence beginning “First and the foremost” is also overloaded, with several clauses joined in a way that obscures the relationships between them. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “this can strenght” and the lowercase “i.” Practise accurate articles, agreement and clause boundaries, and use shorter sentences when expressing several connected points.
