Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people think that international games are the best way to connect different people, but others believe that they develop competition rather than friendship among nations. I believe that both views are right in their own way.

To begin with, International sports like the World Cup are the best platforms to represent their nations. For example, such kind of international games helps to show the top talenters of the country, which helps the nation to gain popularity through its sportsmen. Like in India, Virat Kohli is one of the worlds famous batsmen in cricket and won several matches against many countries. Moreover, such events are beneficial as people from varous nations decide on one place to organize these huge events, and sportsmen from different areas have chances to explore and make new freinds. These all events are broadcast on different news channels, which makes the relationships better.

On the other hand, few think these events leads to competition. To cite an epitome, defeated team treat the opposition as their enemy. Due to competition, envy is obvious between the different teams. Also,in such international sports some developed countries try to bribe the organisation to defeat the developing nation team for the sake of their reputation. This will leads to create negative relationship between nations.

To conclude, in my opinion it is true that international events can be helful to make connectons better, but there are chances that relations can be destroyed due to competition and jealous for the winner team as they all have to work hard to reach at international platform,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall position: “both views are right in their own way.” The response includes relevant points about national representation, athletes meeting people from other countries, and rivalry or envy between teams. The example of Virat Kohli makes the first view more concrete. However, some ideas are not fully explained: the claim that broadcasting “makes the relationships better” needs a clearer link to friendship between countries, while the suggestion that developed countries bribe organisers is asserted without support. Your conclusion restates the balanced position but could explain more precisely when events unite countries and when competition harms relations. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example to make the discussion more convincing and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between perspectives, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order within each paragraph. This gives the reader a coherent route through the discussion. Some links are less clear or feel mechanical, however. For example, “These all events” does not clearly identify which benefits are being summarised, and “To cite an epitome” is an awkward transition into the claim about defeated teams. The final sentence also runs several ideas together. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports; this would make the progression smoother and more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “represent their nations,” “gain popularity,” “competition,” and “negative relationship.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “international platform,” although some are inaccurate or unnatural in context. Noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling problems include “top talenters,” “varous,” “freinds,” “epitome,” “helful,” and “connectons.” Phrases such as “defeated team treat the opposition as their enemy” also express the idea in a blunt, imprecise way. These errors do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Focus on accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “as,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “such kind of international games helps” has a mismatch between the plural noun and verb, while “these events leads” and “This will leads” show problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form. The sentence beginning “Also, in such international sports” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly structured. Punctuation around sentence boundaries and commas is inconsistent, which adds to the difficulty in places. Practise checking agreement and verb forms, and break complex claims into shorter, complete sentences where needed.
