Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people argue that international sporting events makes people closer together for celebrating sports such as olympics or football World cup. However, others acknowledge that cheering for the sports can spark the competitions among the nation rathar than friendship. I believe that hosting events and share the culture and generate the revenue economically benifits for the countries.
On one hand, some individuals admit that hosting an international events could attract nationals together. Hosting an event can create a huge attraction for tourists visting local places such as museum, parks and historical building. Not only that they also hands on various local foods and stream it on social media. For instance, recently a world cup event hosted by the Canada could potentially attract more tourist than ever before on the summar season.
On the other hand, people believe that events create a competition amoung the particiates. International events such as olympic are the events that particiapants are preparing for long time on their skills to perform better. Appearing and representing for the nation is the only goal for participants. Not only they focus onto their game but also not to distract by falling in the friendship with other nationalists.
International sporting events definetaly makes people fall into local nationals using native foods, culture and bridge the friendship. While others sees events as only goal to achieve medal for the nation and individuals. However, in my opinion, I truly admit that creating friedship will not only achieve the goals but also makes pepole fall into the nation with the local attraction.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and state an opinion, particularly in the introduction and conclusion, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening says hosting events brings cultural and economic benefits, while the conclusion focuses on friendship and local attractions without clearly weighing the two views. The supporting ideas are also limited or unclear. The tourism example about a World Cup hosted by Canada is not explained, and the claim that athletes avoid friendship to focus on medals needs clearer reasoning. Develop each side with a specific, relevant example and explain how it supports your point; make your own view explicit and consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers identify the contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and links between ideas can feel mechanical. For example, “Not only that” introduces a tourism detail without clearly connecting it to how the event brings countries together, while the final paragraph repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Some references are also unclear, such as “they” in “Not only they focus onto their game.” Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to the paragraph’s main point, and make the conclusion synthesise your discussion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “international sporting events,” “participants,” “representing for the nation,” and “local foods.” This gives you a basic range for discussing the subject. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or inaccurately chosen, and several spelling errors are noticeable, such as “rathar,” “benifits,” “amoung,” and “definetaly.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “fall into local nationals” and “generate the revenue economically benefits,” which make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Build a more precise set of collocations for sport, tourism, and international relations, and check spelling carefully. Prefer clear, natural expressions over ambitious phrases whose meaning is uncertain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few complex structures, including “Not only … but also” and clauses beginning with “While,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range of sentence patterns is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “events makes” should use a plural verb, while “hosting an international events” mixes singular and plural forms. “Not only they focus” also has incorrect word order for this construction, and the final sentence contains several linked clauses without a clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and paired structures. Check subject–verb agreement and article use during revision.
