Student answer (Band 5.5)

International sports is a debatable issue these days. Many people are of the opinion that The Olympics or the Football world cup make a good relationship between the countries. However other think that it creates a differences between two nations. This eassay will discuss both the views along with my opinion in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, there are many reasons to support that international sports bring countries together. First of all, whenever these types of sports activity going to happen the nations communicate with each other and organised everything together it makes there relationship stronger. Secondly, when the players going to other nation for playing matches they come to know about the new technologies uses in that countries as result of this increases the import export business in two countries.

On the other hand, some people believe that it creates a competition between countries. when any of the counrty team loose the game they feel like that they are weak from that country and take it as competion in other ways. In addition to this, the international games are live telecast on the television so the loosing team represents the country badly. For instance India and a Pakistan does not has good relationship because of the cricket.

After analyzing both sides of the arguments, it can be concluded that international games makes a good relationship between countries. It is beneficial for the business purpose and it also makes good repotition of the countries. Moreover it is a best way to connect the culture of the other nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and make your own position clear in the conclusion: you believe international games strengthen relationships and connect cultures. The two body paragraphs also give relevant reasons, including cooperation in organising events and the possibility that losing can intensify rivalry. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The claim that visiting players learn about technology and thereby increase trade is not explained or supported with a clear example, and the India–Pakistan cricket reference is asserted rather than showing how competition affects relations. To strengthen the response, explain each cause-and-effect link and use a specific example to support both sides of the discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “After analyzing both sides” help readers follow the argument, and the main ideas are generally grouped appropriately. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the stronger control associated with more flexible progression. However, links within paragraphs can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “they feel like that they are weak from that country” leaves the comparison difficult to follow. Use clearer pronouns and connect each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “international sports,” “competition,” “relationship,” and “culture.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spellings make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “creates a differences,” “take it as competion,” “loosing team,” and “good repotition.” Some phrases, such as “business purpose,” are also imprecise in context. Build a more accurate set of expressions for discussing international relations and sporting rivalry, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you express your ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “good” and “countries.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea beginning “whenever these types of sports activity…” and a concluding sentence with “Moreover.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “international games makes” should use a plural verb, while “does not has” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “when any of the counrty team loose” also needs clearer grammatical construction. Practise building accurate complex sentences, especially with subordinate clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms before submitting. Clearer punctuation and capitalisation will also make sentence boundaries easier to read.
