Student answer (Band 5.0)

International sport events are the crucial part for every athletes sporting career and the counties they are representing. Olympics and Football are the worlds largest events for sports, many believe these events are beneficial for countires, economy and competition, but on the other hand some argue on the facts that they create a sense of bitterness among the players and countires.

Sports is always treated as a activity which brings everyone toghther, it also teaches lot of lessons which can be implemented in life like; courage, team-building, resilience and many more things. Sport events gives everyone a platform to show up their skills to the whole world and be the top of the game. It brings countries together where they share fields, players exchange ideas off field, different ethincity comes to a destination and people get to explore new stuff which they might be lacking in their home countries, Numerous advantages can be mentioned for the sports. Inspiration can be taken from your competitor. Recently in the FIFA World cup there was a big upset as Canada defeated South Africa and whole football viewer community was astonished. However after the match in press conference,Candian Players expressed their thanks to the players of South Africa becaus of the gameplay they showed and they worked on the skills to defeat them. These such small things makes the sporting events valuable.

Neverthless, It is also considered that the events can be very competetive and create a rivarly among players and the audience. One of the substantial example is India Versus Pakistan . Everyone is aware of the relationship of both the countries and whenever they both share a stage, specially in an sport event it becomes a big thing for the world to watch . In cricket world cup it is the most watched game as it brings up a lot of tension among the counties and more on the players. Then they are not thing for the friendship but for the rivarly.

Hence, all the ethical values feels worthless there.

Thus, there are always pros and cons for everything in this world and it is on the perspective of an individual how they want to consume a sport. However these events do bring setbacks, joys and many more stories which is perceived positively and negatively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a broadly balanced conclusion: the first main paragraph presents sport as a source of shared experiences and inspiration, while the India–Pakistan example illustrates how rivalry can dominate. These examples are relevant, and the Canada–South Africa account helps make your first argument concrete. However, the response only partially develops the task. The opening mentions economic benefits, but this point is not explained, and the conclusion says events have both positive and negative effects without clearly stating which view you support overall. Some claims, such as ethical values becoming “worthless,” are asserted rather than explained. Make your own position explicit and develop each side with a clear reason and a well-explained example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding paragraph. Transitions such as “on the other hand,” “Nevertheless,” and “Thus” help signal changes in direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from life lessons to cultural exchange, then to a match example without clearly linking each point to the central argument. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly “Then they are not thing for the friendship but for the rivarly.” The conclusion also repeats the idea of pros and cons rather than drawing the discussion together. Use topic sentences and clearer links between claims, explanations, and examples; ensure pronouns and references identify exactly who or what you mean.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “resilience,” “platform,” “competitor,” “bitterness,” and “rivalry,” and these choices show an effort to discuss both cooperation and conflict. However, the range is not consistently controlled: spelling errors such as “countires,” “toghther,” and “Neverthless,” along with inaccurate or awkward combinations such as “share fields” and “top of the game,” make the writing less fluent and can distract the reader. Some words are repeated, especially “events,” “countries,” and “players,” while “big thing” is imprecise for an academic discussion. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, and choose more precise terms for the effects of international competition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “where” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “Sports is always treated as a activity” has agreement and article problems, while “Sport events gives everyone” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Recently in the FIFA World cup” runs several ideas together, and “Hence, all the ethical values feels worthless there” has an agreement error and an unclear grammatical reference. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, then check articles, singular/plural forms, and punctuation.
