Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are people who believe major sport events celebrate around the world create competiton and rift. Where as some believe it is great way to create bond between different countries. In this essay I will discuss both the views and give my opinion.
The oponents of this view state that, Many sport events like world cup, FIFA and Olympic can create neagtive environment during competition and will make countries against each other for example During FIFA worldcup there was a match between france and Argentina during finals , France lost and people in france started protesting by throwing smoke bombs, vandelising properties. Streets were filled with angry crowd litting fire in the garbage and breaking in stores. This impact caused due to angry fans are one of the reasons why some believe compeitions like this cause havoke and should not be held.
Oproponents of this view aregue that, Even though there has been such riots but these compeitions do bring out lots of advantages for instance; The country that host huge sport events like olympic not only helps to boost their economy by giving employment to thounds of people and vendors , But they also represents their country to world. This openess help other country learn about different cultures and traditions which bring everyone closer. Apart from this events like this helps competitors to work hard and earn more name and money that they deserve for their skills. Moreover this events do bring people under one roof. People fly to different country which also boost countries economy and tourism.
In concluison, I believe the advantages outweight the disadvantage. There are some who would believe in spreading hatered and mess but there are more people that enjoy and appreciate the sports and support their team as well as cheer if thry loose. Sports is one area where competitons helps boost GDP as well as team spirit to do better next time. For some ill minded people we can stop celebrating these events.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The example of unrest after the France–Argentina final supports the argument that sporting rivalry can lead to hostility, while the discussion of employment, tourism, cultural exchange and athletes’ achievements presents several reasons these events can unite people. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the negative view relies mainly on one incident, and the claim that some people believe in “spreading hatred and mess” is not fully explained. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how competition between national teams can either intensify tensions or encourage mutual respect, and make the final opinion follow directly from that comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the opposing views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “for example,” “Apart from this,” and “In conclusion” help show how ideas relate. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. The opening sentence is difficult to interpret, and “Oproponents of this view” does not clearly identify which side is being introduced. Within the benefits paragraph, several points are added in sequence without showing how they connect to the central idea of international friendship. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example explicitly to your argument; also ensure pronouns such as “this” have an unmistakable reference.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “boost their economy,” “employment,” “cultures and traditions,” “tourism,” and “team spirit.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “competiton,” “neagtive,” “havoke,” and “openness,” as well as “celebrate around the world,” which does not express the intended idea clearly. Some phrases, such as “earn more name and money,” are also imprecise. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural collocations—for example, “international sporting events,” “economic benefits,” and “gain recognition and prize money.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, including “Even though there has been such riots…” and the sentence beginning “The country that host huge sport events…”. The main message is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction and punctuation recur. For instance, “these events helps” should use a plural verb, while “the country that host” needs a singular verb. The long sentence beginning “The country that host…” also shifts between “country” and “they,” making its structure harder to control. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and sentence boundaries. Breaking long sentences into shorter, complete units would improve accuracy while still allowing you to show a range of structures.
