Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is an ongoing debate among the people that International games events such as The olympics or the football world cup brings unity and differnet countries together, but on other side individulas think that it create competition. In my opinion, Although it creates disputes sometimes, its positive effects of brining countries together can not be neglected.

On the one hand, international sports events plays a massive role not only in supporting the various games but also unites the people from different countries. For example, during Olympics games most of the players come across from differnt nation where they share their experience, thoughts and compete with each other. As a result, they learn ,understand and develop good relations. Moreover, it also helps in providing the knowledge about their culutre, explore the surrondings and even help them tolearn about some great skills which automatically helps them to perform well.

On the other hand, sometime these events take a path of conflicts and problems. Every country wants to win, so they choose to fight among other people. For instance, especially during football match players become aggressive if they are loosing their points and they try to fight and disrespect other players. Due to this, problems raised and authorities dismiss the match.

In my opinion, positive effects overweight the negative results. These events are organized to unity countries and people and help them to show their skills.

To conclude, international sports events can sometimes creates problems, but the postive side are more greater as it help differtent to learn more about people about their culture and build good relations between countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion: you acknowledge that events can cause disputes, but argue that their benefits for unity are greater. The examples about athletes sharing experiences and players becoming aggressive are relevant to the task. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The unity paragraph mentions cultural exchange and learning skills, but does not explain in detail how these interactions build relationships between countries. The competition paragraph focuses mainly on conflict between players during a match, rather than broader competition or its effects on relations between nations. To strengthen the response, explain each view more fully and connect your examples directly to whether international events foster friendship or rivalry. The response meets the stated length requirement; 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. The progression is generally logical, but some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover” introduces several loosely connected benefits, while “Due to this, problems raised” does not clearly explain how the players’ behaviour leads authorities to dismiss a match. The opinion paragraph also repeats the main claim without adding a new reason. Use clearer references and explain cause-and-effect links, and integrate your opinion with the supporting discussion to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “unity,” “compete,” “aggressive,” “culture,” and “good relations.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the response less natural, such as “take a path of conflicts,” “loosing their points,” and “positive effects overweight the negative results.” Spelling errors, including “differnet,” “culutre,” and “postive,” are also noticeable. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision and sometimes cause difficulty. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing international relations and sporting rivalry, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and a conditional-style explanation beginning “if they are loosing their points.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “events … brings unity” and “events plays” use singular verbs with plural subjects; “it create competition” also needs agreement. In “positive effects … can not be neglected,” the pronoun reference is unclear, and “the positive side are more greater” has errors in agreement and comparison. Review subject–verb agreement and comparative forms, then check each sentence for clear pronoun references. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences easier to read.
