Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowdays, sports plays an important role between two countries. Players are taking parts in diffrent countries sports event such as FIFA, IPL, Olympics and many more. It is believed by some people that this kind of games is a good way to bring countries together and creates strong bond. Whereas, other people think that these events always create competition as players wants to defet their oppononts. I believe that playing with another continent has more positive side rather than not playing against them.

There are some reasons why people feel that sports event in diffrent contries brings two nations together. Firstly, playing in another part of world will give player chance to visit and meet new players. Moreover, fans can also visit that place if there is big sports event being held. Recently, FIFA world cup was organised in USA where people from diffrent parts of the world came and enjoyed games. Secondly, two countries will have chance to convert their games relations into business partners. As a result, both nation will be able to boost their economy by sharing goods and another supplies. Lastly, sports person can learn diffrent technics and tricks from another team player which can improve their skills.

On the other hand, there could be some reason about why some believe that sports match against two diffrent countries has more competition than friendship. First, It is true that sports is that kind of activity in which player always wants to wins specially those games which has more than one player. Best example would be Cricket or Football matches where some players gets agreesive and selfish in order to win a game. However, I personally believe that games can not be an intresting without competition but player has to show their sportsmen spirit in every games that they are playing.

To sum up, although playing in diffrent coontries against them always create some competition, I believe that this should not stop people playing in diffrent contries as it provides more positive impact towards nations, players and also fans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal position: you argue that international sport has more positive effects, while acknowledging that players compete to win. The examples of fans travelling to a World Cup and teams learning from one another are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The friendship argument includes several possible benefits, but the claim that sporting relationships can become business partnerships is asserted rather than explained. The competition paragraph is shorter and focuses mainly on players’ behaviour, with little discussion of how rivalry may affect relations between countries. To strengthen the response, explain these links and support each main point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the argument, and the progression within the first body paragraph is generally logical. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the repeated listing of points can feel mechanical, and some links between ideas are not fully clear—for example, the move from sporting relationships to economic benefits. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “opponent,” “economy,” and “sportsmen spirit.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “diffrent,” “defet,” “agreesive,” and “players gets agreesive” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “playing with another continent” and “convert their games relations into business partners,” which may make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and check spelling and forms carefully. More precise expressions would help you explain international sporting relationships without relying on repeated general words such as “games” and “different.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “where” and “which,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some errors occur in agreement and verb forms, such as “sports plays,” “players wants,” “both nation will be able,” and “players gets.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “sports is that kind of activity” and “without competition.” These errors do not usually prevent the reader from following your meaning, but they show that control is not yet consistent. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause has a clear, correctly formed subject and verb.
