Student answer (Band 4.5)
bring countries together
Unlike Wars, Internation sports events bring nations closer and spread frienship worldwide. While some individuals argue that sport tournaments such as Football world cups, and the Olympics are the best way to improve friendly relations across the globe, others take this events as competative sports ather than friendly event. I strongly believe that these sports are effective way to create a strong bond among different nations, because it provide opportunity to sportpersons and to general public to imporve friendly relation regardless of geographical boundries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear opinion that international sports can build bonds, and you begin to explain how athletes and spectators meet and experience other cultures. However, the response only minimally addresses the opposing view: the unfinished passage “Propenents of . This is particularly because” gives no reason or example for why events may create competition rather than friendship. Your supporting points are also left incomplete, including the sentence ending “which”. The conclusion repeats your position but does not make up for the missing discussion and development. The response is 35 words below the required minimum, which further limits the space available to address both views. Develop each side with a complete reason and a relevant example before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an identifiable opening, an attempted body paragraph, and a conclusion, and phrases such as “While” and “To conclude” signal the intended structure. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the first body paragraph stops mid-sentence and the opposing-view paragraph consists largely of blanks: “Propenents of . This is particularly because . Consequently”. These gaps prevent the reader from seeing how ideas connect or build. Some linking is also awkward, as in “As sport teams and people gather … As start of each game”, where the relationship between the clauses is unclear. Use separate, complete paragraphs for each view, and connect each claim to its explanation and example with clear referencing and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “unity”, “friendly relations”, “geographical boundaries” and “detrimental effect”, and the reader can generally identify your main position. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “Internation”, “frienship”, “competative” and “Propenents”. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “take this events as competative sports” and “sport programs” do not convey the intended meaning smoothly. Aim for accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, use “international sporting events” and “foster relations” rather than less natural combinations, and choose “competition between nations” to describe the opposing view.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including the opening contrast beginning “While some individuals argue…” and the concluding “Although” clause. However, the range is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to follow. For example, “these events … are the best way” shifts into “others take this events”, while “it provide opportunity” has problems with agreement and article use. The sentence beginning “As sport teams and people gather” is a fragment, and the sentence ending “which” is incomplete. The opening body sentence also joins clauses awkwardly. Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, checking agreement, articles and singular/plural forms, and use full stops where an idea is complete.
