Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the mordern era, some individuals believe that competitive sports events are benifitial to bring nations together, while others argue sports brings up the competitive side of the humens and it impact megatively on the globel peace. Although in rare occations sports escalated some international conflict, I believe, sports events are important to maintain the friendship between nations.
To begin with, sports encourage their audience to interact with each other. During events such as Olympics and FIFA, both competitors and their fans have to share the same stadium, these intreactions give rise to share each others cultures and habits. By having common interests, people tend to form deeper connections towards others with deeper understanding. For example, the 2025 FIFA world cup demostrated the harmony in different countries when they cheere to the FIFA theam song.
On the other hand, Sports brings out the existing conflicts to the sport ground. When some countries have ongoing issues such as border conflicts, economical and social conflicts, some players tend to attack the other team with extreme force. For instance we can take the Cricket world cup event on 2019, the finalized Pakistan and India teams' fans fought with opposite team, mainly because of the border conflicts between two nations.
In conclsion, There is a ongoing argument on whether the globle sports event are benifitial build the globel frienships or those events cause more harm than good. Even thouth, there are some unfortunate events that resulted in bad out comes, In my view, Sports events are crutial to maintain world peace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion: despite acknowledging that sport can expose existing conflicts, you believe international events help maintain friendship and peace. The two body paragraphs are relevant, with examples involving shared stadiums and India–Pakistan cricket. However, the positive case is more fully explained than the opposing view, which is mainly asserted through the claim that players may attack with extreme force. The examples also need clearer support: the 2025 FIFA reference is difficult to assess, and the cricket example describes fans fighting rather than showing how the event itself creates competition between countries. Develop the opposing argument and connect each example more explicitly to the task to make the discussion more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the progression. This is a coherent arrangement, and the main ideas are generally presented in a sensible order. Some links between claims and examples are less smooth, however; for instance, the move from shared stadiums to cultural understanding needs a clearer explanation, and the cricket example does not directly establish the claim about players’ behaviour. There is also some mechanical repetition of “sports events” and “countries.” Use more precise referencing and make the relationship between each example and its point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “competitors,” “audience,” “border conflicts,” “harmony,” and “international conflict,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range and control are limited by frequent spelling errors and several inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, such as “sports brings up the competitive side,” “share each others cultures,” and “cheere to the FIFA theam song.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim to learn vocabulary in accurate phrases, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for the effects of sporting events—such as national rivalry, cultural exchange, or diplomatic relations—would help you express the discussion with greater clarity and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although …, I believe …” and a conditional structure beginning “When some countries have ongoing issues.” Most sentences communicate the intended point, and the response has a recognisable range of structures. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “sports brings” and “it impact” do not agree with their subjects, while “these interactions give rise to share” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. The long sentence about competitors and fans sharing a stadium also joins two independent clauses with a comma. Review agreement and clause boundaries, and practise building complex sentences accurately before adding more structures.
