Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been an ongoing debate whether sports events such as The olympics and Football World Cup causes love and brotherhood between counteries or strains their relationship. In my opinion various international championships are a healthy way to compete against each other and bring people from all around the globe togeather in one stadium.
During international supports events people from different backgrounds and ethnicities all come to support their national team creating a wholesome and lovely environment. I personally believe games like cricket and football are a great way to strengthen relationships by bringing people togeather with similar interests and hobbies. The stadium is full of people wearing their favourite teams jersey and watching the game with antisipation, in moments like these most of them forget about the conflicts between their counteries governments and just watch the competition as a fun game. In addition sport also makes us realise the importance of unity and community.
On the other hand, it is understandable why some people would argue that competetive games cause unnecassary fights between certain groups. There are some people that take cricket or football games too seriously instead of a source of entertainment and talk negatively about the opposite team. This kind of behaviour is the result of propaganda spread by the government about other counteries to gain supporters. If we want to keep sports events as just entertainment games that brings people togeather instead of becoming a way of spreading hate towards other nations, we need to educate the overly emotional individuals and provide therapy for them so they learn to enjoy the game instead of turning it into life and death situation.
In conclusion, sports is an excelent form of spreading love and joy because it provides individuals with an opportunity to find happiness in a single event. Although some people use it to shame other counteries and spread negativity, its positive impacts outweighs its harms by far much.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and make your own position clear: international events can unite people, and their positive effects outweigh the harm caused by hostile supporters. The examples of fans sharing a stadium and setting aside political conflicts are relevant, while the opposing view is illustrated through people who insult rival teams. This covers the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the unity argument receives more explanation, whereas the claim that governments spread propaganda is asserted without a specific example or clear explanation of how it fuels conflict. The proposed response of educating supporters and offering therapy is also somewhat abrupt. Develop the opposing view with a concrete example and explain the link between competition and national tension more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs discuss unity and conflict, and the conclusion restates your position. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some sentences carry several ideas at once, particularly the long sentence about fans forgetting political conflicts, which makes the progression less smooth. The shift from government propaganda to educating individuals and providing therapy also needs a clearer connecting explanation. Referencing is generally understandable, but repeated use of “people” and “sports events” makes the writing feel less flexible. Use more precise links between cause and effect, and divide or reshape long sentences so each paragraph develops one clear line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “strengthen relationships,” “national team,” “propaganda,” and “positive impacts.” There are also attempts at expressive phrasing, such as “wholesome and lovely environment,” though this combination is not fully natural for an academic essay. Noticeable spelling errors—“counteries,” “togeather,” “antisipation,” “competetive,” “unnecassary,” and “excelent”—reduce accuracy, and some word choices or collocations are awkward, including “international supports events” and “life and death situation.” The meaning remains clear, but the range and control are not yet consistently precise. Check spelling carefully and choose more conventional topic vocabulary, such as “international sporting events,” “national rivalries,” and “a matter of life and death.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including subordinate clauses in “Although some people use it to shame other countries…” and a conditional sentence beginning “If we want to keep sports events…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “events … causes” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “sports is” and “its positive impacts outweighs” also show agreement problems. In “a way … that brings people together,” the verb does not agree with the plural noun “games,” while “turning it into life and death situation” is missing an article. The long sentence beginning “If we want…” is difficult to control. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied structures.
