Student answer (Band 5.0)
The Olympics Or The Football World Cup Bringing Countries Together
The Olympics or The International World Cup can be refferred to as sports events that link and bond people especially players and countries together.
In addition, these sports has linked old time friends together and players from various parts of the world have known each other literaly through these sporting activities.
I can vividly remember when I was in the Grammar school and the Football World cup though, this one was inter-state which was organised in my school, I got to know various new players I have been hearing of their names on the television but knew them physically and got to meet some of them one on one without much ado all because I was a team player for my school and up till today we still communicate amongst ourselves which I believe it is not for competition thing but for friendship purpose.
Furthermore, I believe that the main motive of the organisers of this event is to bring players together and to cement friendship between countries and not to create competition amongst both.
Conclusively, The Olympics / The Football World Cup event has rather bring positivity to various countries of the World rather than Negativity in all aspects. For example, People and countries who have participated in this game are liable to going to each other's countries for holidays, business trips, tour, learning each other languages, openings of job opportunities for people who met at the sporting events to other countries, which help to strengthen their friendship the more.
I can boldly say that, these events have rather created and strengthened the bond between the countries of the world rather than breeding competition of any sort.
Thank You.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear opinion that international sporting events promote friendship, and your school football experience provides a relevant personal example. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing argument—that these events can create competition rather than friendship—is not explained. The response mainly repeats the view that sport brings people together, including in the conclusion, while claims about travel, business and jobs are listed rather than supported. To address the task more fully, explain why national rivalry, intense competition or disputes between supporters might weaken relations, then weigh that against your own view. Develop fewer examples in more detail so your position is supported rather than simply asserted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a concluding opinion. Connectors such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “Conclusively” help signal movement between points. However, the progression is limited because most paragraphs repeat the same claim about friendship, and the opposing view has no place in the structure. The long school anecdote combines several ideas, making its main point harder to follow. Some links are also unclear, as in “which I believe it is not for competition thing,” where the relationship between the example and the claim is difficult to track. Give each body paragraph a distinct purpose, use clearer references, and organise the discussion of both views before reaching your conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonably varied set of topic-related expressions, including “cement friendship,” “team player,” “strengthen their friendship,” and “job opportunities.” These choices show an effort to go beyond very basic vocabulary. However, several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “old time friends,” “known each other literaly,” “for friendship purpose,” and “breeding competition of any sort.” Spelling errors such as “refferred” and “literaly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and precise wording rather than adding formal-sounding phrases. For example, describe how events “foster international friendships” or “intensify national rivalries,” and check spelling carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain examples, particularly in the paragraph about your school experience. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors affect clarity. For example, “these sports has linked” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The Olympics / The Football World Cup event has rather bring” combines an incorrect verb form with an unclear singular subject. The sentence beginning “I can vividly remember” is also overloaded, with several clauses joined without clear grammatical boundaries. Use a mix of shorter, controlled sentences and longer structures, check agreement and verb forms, and punctuate complex sentences so each idea is easy to follow.
