Student answer (Band 5.5)
Sports has been an attractive and important part in every country. From young to adults, every generation enjoys playing, watching the outdoor games. International sports are a way of bringing not only countries together, also brings families together for watching them. In my opinion, these games are the best way of knowing different countries. However some believes that these creates competition against each other. Let us discuss both views in detail.
On the one hand, International games creates competitive feeling among countries participating against each other. Sometimes this results in political disturbance between nations. Rather than just a game this become reason of major rivalry between political party of the countries which impact import and export relations as well.
On the other hand, international games are a way of knowing the nations better in terms of their culture, talent. This gives opportunities to individual grow more in their professional and personal lives. These games also benefits nations to maintain good relations among each other and helps in other important aspects of the economy. During these sports major leaders of various countries assemble at one place to cheer their sportsmen which provides them the chance to show each other what their nation have to offer and benefits each other. This also help individual participants to get fame at international level.
I would like to share an example of Nitesh Singh, who represented India at International level in last Olympics in his area of long run. He won the level and created a history. Through this, he got popular internationally which benefit him in his career growth and also benefitted the country in getting a guineas book record as well as a history creator.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a view, saying international games are “the best way of knowing different countries.” The response also gives relevant points about rivalry, political relations, cultural exchange and athletes’ opportunities. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the claim that events can cause “political disturbance” and affect trade is not explained with a clear example, while the benefits are listed rather than explored. The Nitesh Singh example is intended to support your view, but its details and connection to international friendship are unclear. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or reliable example, and make your own position more explicit in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting competition, and a paragraph describing benefits. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the two perspectives, so the reader can follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are joined without showing their precise relationship. For example, the benefits paragraph moves from cultural understanding to personal growth, economic relations, leaders meeting, and an athlete’s fame. The final example then ends the essay without a concluding summary or a clear restatement of your opinion. Group related points, use clearer links between cause and result, and add a concise conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “political disturbance,” “rivalry,” “import and export relations,” and “international level.” This gives you a basic range for discussing sport and relations between countries. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “competitive feeling,” “the level,” and “a guineas book record” are unclear or unsuitable in context; “professional and personal lives” is also repeated in a general way rather than developed precisely. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check the exact meaning and spelling of less familiar terms. More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent, and attempts to build complex sentences are often faulty. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “International games creates” and “These games also benefits” should use plural verb forms. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “this become reason of major rivalry” and “what their nation have to offer.” The opening sentence, “Sports has been,” also has an agreement error. These patterns sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and build longer sentences from accurate clauses before adding more complexity.
