Student answer (Band 5.5)
A minority of human population believe that international sports events, such as The Olympics or the Football World Cup, is a positive approach to unite other countries. However, others opine that these events spread hatred among people and create competion among them. The following essay will discuss both these perspectives and will provide a reasoned conclusion.
The supporters of bringing countries together for International sports events believes that it could help individuals interact and to know about their traditions and cultures which will inhibit them to know about several aspects of their history. In addition, the government will be benefited by sponsoring huge sports events and brings in more employment opportunities and revenue for their respective country. For instance, Canada has recently organised FIFA World Cup in 2026, that had a major impact on their residents income as many people were able to find employment opportunites in sectors such as Voluntering, Security, rideshare and also local businesses.
Another contributing factor is that there could be conflicts among supporters of respective countries which may lead to discrepancies in the stadium that would affect other audiences who paid huge amount to buy tickets for these big events. Moreover, during the event there might be a situation where one team is on a winning side and the other on losing end that creates more tense moment and the fans could abuse eachother by inappropriate word choice. For example, a lot of fans on television broadcast seems in anger and abuse each other which may lead to severe consequences because of the competition.
In conclusion, there are benefits and drawbacks of bringing countries together for huge sports events such as Football World Cup. But, in my perspective, I believe that there must be a mutual respect among other country residents and should take these events just like a game rather than a personal accomplishment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains how events can encourage cultural interaction and create jobs, while the second discusses hostility between rival supporters. Your conclusion also gives a position, recommending mutual respect and treating sport as a game. However, the opinion is not fully decisive about whether these events generally unite countries or create competition, and the discussion of friendship is less developed than the economic benefits. The example about Canada hosting the 2026 World Cup is relevant, but its connection to bringing countries together is not made explicit. Develop each side with a clear explanation and a specific example, then state directly which view you find more convincing and why.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “However,” “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages. Within paragraphs, though, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, the first paragraph moves from cultural exchange to government revenue and employment without explaining how these points connect to the central claim about unity. The second paragraph shifts from stadium conflicts to a team winning and fans abusing one another, with some repetition of the same idea. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, and add clearer cause-and-effect links so the examples support that point directly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “traditions and cultures,” “employment opportunities,” “revenue,” “conflicts,” and “mutual respect.” These choices make the subject clear, but several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “a minority of human population,” “inhibit them to know,” and “tense moment” do not convey the intended meanings naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “competion,” “opportunites,” “Voluntering,” and “eachother.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than formal-sounding phrases, and proofread spelling. For example, “a minority of people” and “help them learn about” would express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “that,” and “because.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For instance, “events … is” should be “events … are,” and “The supporters … believes” should be “The supporters … believe.” In “the government will be benefited … and brings in,” the verb forms do not match; a parallel construction such as “can benefit … and bring in” would be clearer. The final sentence also lacks a clear grammatical subject for “should take.” Review subject–verb agreement and make sure each clause has a complete, consistent structure.
