Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response begins to address both views: it says sports events can create “healthy relation” and introduces the opposing idea that losing may produce “a feeling of revenge.” However, the discussion is incomplete: the second viewpoint stops mid-sentence, and there is no clear personal opinion or developed conclusion. The example about the United States hosting a FIFA World Cup is also unclear and does not explain specifically how participation built relations. The response is 68 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to explain and support the ideas. To improve, state your position directly, develop both sides with clear reasons and relevant examples, and finish with a conclusion that answers the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: an introduction is followed by a paragraph supporting international events and a paragraph beginning the opposing view. Linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the flip side” help signal this structure. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph ends abruptly, and the essay has no concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together. Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly the example about the World Cup and the claim that governments “also make some relations.” The repeated references to “some people” and “other group” also make the flow feel repetitive. Develop each paragraph around one clear point, explain how each example supports it, and use a complete conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international,” “participated,” “competition,” and “relationship,” and attempts phrases such as “bring countries together.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, as in “create a best opportunity,” “create competitors,” and “make some relations.” Spelling errors such as “diffrent,” “relavant,” “becouse,” and “countris” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for precise topic vocabulary and learn common combinations, for example, “foster diplomatic ties,” “intensify rivalry,” and “promote mutual respect.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing natural phrases will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and a conditional idea about what happens when a team loses. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement and verb forms occur frequently: “sports events … is,” “other group … thinks,” and “this type of event are.” Sentence construction is also incomplete or unclear in “recently in the united states held a FIFA world cup” and “when a team lose the match then they create…” The final sentence is unfinished, and punctuation around clauses is inconsistent. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, checking singular/plural agreement, and separating long ideas into shorter sentences before adding more complex structures.
