Student answer (Band 5.0)

International sports are becoming increasingly popular in the world. Some people argued that these events like The Olympics or the Football World Cup, are bring togetherness in between countries which is good thing. while others believe that these sports programs increase competition as compared to friendship. I will discuss both view in upcoming paragraphs, which are resons behind this.

On the one hand, the keys benefit of these sports programs is that these events give an opportunity to the local people to enjoy another country, while they are going to watch these matchs. People can explore new places and get international experience. For example, in the month of July, Canada had organised FIFA World Cup. It is very famous all over the world and people was purchasing expensive tickets to enjoy it and canada had issued numerous visas to another countries people to enjoy it.

However, these events are creating some problems between countries like competition. If one team of another country get success and 2nd team is failure, then conflicts arise and get jealous and increase disputes. Finally, host country may force to their player to win this match, because they want to get prize to manage all the expenses and put high pressure on the players. Another countries maybe arise a voice and start argue with them.

It is reiterated that international sports has both advantages and disadvantages. A small proportion of people are saying, it is good for making good friends and relations, however others say that these are creating competition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views by describing international events as opportunities for visitors to experience other countries and as a source of rivalry, and you include a relevant example involving the World Cup. However, the discussion is only partial: the first view is mainly about tourism rather than how sport brings countries together, while the second relies on brief, hypothetical claims about jealousy and pressure. Your own opinion is not clearly stated; the conclusion repeats both sides without saying which you support. The response also falls four words short of the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and develop each view with a clear explanation and a specific, accurate example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “However,” and a concluding paragraph. These signposts help readers identify the two sides. Within paragraphs, though, the progression is sometimes unclear. The example about visitors and visas does not fully connect to the claim that sport builds friendship, and the sequence from a team losing to jealousy, disputes, and pressure on players is difficult to follow. The conclusion also repeats the contrast rather than bringing the discussion to a clear resolution. Use linking phrases to show cause and effect, and make each paragraph develop one central point in a logical order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “international experience,” “competition,” “conflicts,” and “host country.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “issued numerous visas” and “manage all the expenses.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning harder to follow: “bring togetherness,” “sports programs,” “get success,” and “arise a voice” are examples. Spelling errors such as “resons” and “matchs” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of phrases for describing cooperation and rivalry, and check collocations and spelling so that your ideas sound precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If one team … get success … then conflicts arise” and a clause beginning “while they are going to watch.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “these events … are bring,” “people was purchasing,” and “international sports has,” which show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “good thing” and the lower-case “while” after a full stop. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build longer sentences while checking agreement, tense, articles, and punctuation.
