Student answer (Band 6.0)

Is has been said international sports culture enhances the relation between countries whereas some deny that and says that those activities bring more competative behave amoung them. In this essay i will discuss both the views and give my openion.

To begin with, In todays growing world sports has been and crucial part for the economy of the country and organising it internationaly brings a boost to that. These events increases the tourism and attract more people towards the country which also helps the local vendors. Lot of events like olympics are held worlwide where almost each and every country perform which definately builds a good relation. I remember last month there was cricket match played between India and Japan to celebrate 75 years of their friendship.

On the other hand, It is said that these games are not useful for the nation as it creates competative behavior between them. However when one looses the game they sometimes are bullied by the people of the country. Moreover, When people watch match in the stadium and support different nations lot of fights happens and sometimes many get i jured seriously. A survey was oraganised before the football world cup and huge sum of people were found abusing different countries to demotivate the players. It is also been observed that some countries feel left over because they are not selected in that event.

I personally believe that sport events are one of the best way to increase bonds inbetween nations but on the other hands some measures should be taken while organising those events so that players and leaders of other countries should not feel disrespected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal position: international events can strengthen bonds, although organisers should prevent disrespect. The first body paragraph explains economic benefits and offers the India–Japan cricket match as an example; the second discusses hostility, crowd violence and countries feeling excluded. These points are relevant, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that events boost tourism and help local vendors could be linked more clearly to how this brings countries together, while the survey example lacks detail about its source or findings. Develop the reasoning behind each example and explain more precisely how competition can damage relations to make the discussion more balanced and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “I personally believe” make the progression easy to follow, and the ideas within each paragraph generally relate to its main point. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several links feel formulaic, and the sequence of examples in the second body paragraph is somewhat list-like. Use clearer cause-and-effect links between claims and evidence, and make references such as “those activities” and “they” more precise so readers can immediately identify what they refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “tourism,” “local vendors,” “support different nations,” and “feel left over,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “demotivate the players.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “competative behave,” “openion,” “oraganised,” and “inbetween” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “builds a good relation” and “a boost to that.” This range is adequate for communicating the topic, but greater accuracy and more natural collocations are needed. Check spelling carefully and learn useful topic phrases in context rather than translating them word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “events … where almost each and every country perform” and a conditional idea in the conclusion. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “sports has been and crucial part” has an incomplete verb phrase, while “These events increases” and “a lot of fights happens” show subject–verb agreement problems. There are also issues with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “there was cricket match played.” Work on agreement, articles, and complete verb phrases, and proofread punctuation and capitalisation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences clearer.
