Student answer (Band 5.0)
The international sports events, such as The Olympics or the Football World Cup was a great way to bring countries togerther that believed some of the people. But some of them it thinks that it create competition in this events rather than friendship. In my opionion having this kind of internation sports event can create a major conflict on handling tourism and alliances of different countries that compete in each event.
The good thing about having these kind of events on each every country is that they can give a great accomodation on each nation that travels and compete with each other that causes a great sportsmanship to play and win the event that they attend to. Every nation that travels for the event made them see what is like and to experience the culture that makes the countries bring together.
On the other hand, some would say it causes only conflict where people would create biasses to its wanted team. For example in a sports event like basketball, they would pick some fights where their team is the best and banter around the whole game to other people who are also supporting the other team which makes a competition and not friendship. Most of the time that this happens is like when its on final game where this would be the critical part of the event of the competition where who will win and the people who are watching will belittle the counterpart of the team which who losses the game.
In conclusion, having this kind of competition in internal sports event made people differs on their actions or personalities. It made them to be more competitive on their sports that they play so the it would cause not friendship but hostility to win the game. However, most of the players wanted to be a great sport where they would play the game all their best so even though they win or lose they actually appreciate their rivals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the second paragraph presents travel, cultural experience and sportsmanship as benefits, while the third explains how supporters’ rivalry can create conflict. Your final paragraph also gives a position, leaning towards the view that competition can produce hostility while acknowledging that players may respect their rivals. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening introduces “conflict” without explaining how tourism or alliances relate to the question, and the conclusion shifts towards a more balanced view. The examples are relevant but remain general; the basketball-supporter example would be stronger with a specific situation and clearer explanation of its effect on relations between countries. Develop each main idea and connect it directly to the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal changes in direction, and the basketball example is placed with the argument about rivalry. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the opening moves from tourism to alliances without showing the connection, and the final paragraph repeats the idea of competition and hostility rather than drawing the discussion together. Some references, such as “this” and “they,” do not make it clear which event, people or team is meant. Use clearer topic sentences, link each example explicitly to its main point, and avoid repeating the same conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “sportsmanship,” “culture,” “competition,” “hostility” and “rivals,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, sometimes making the reader work to understand the intended meaning. For example, “give a great accomodation” does not express the idea of welcoming visiting nations, while “biasses to its wanted team” is difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “togherther,” “opionion” and “accomodation” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for describing cultural exchange, national rivalry and respectful competition, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the people who are watching will belittle the counterpart” and a concession in “even though they win or lose.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. For instance, “The international sports events … was” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “some of them it thinks” has an unclear and incorrect clause structure. The final sentence, “so the it would cause,” also contains an incomplete or malformed construction. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and verb forms.
