Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary world, competition and working alliance amongst different countries has been increasing day by day through technology, global relationships and many more considerable events. Certain people believe that international sports events such as The Olympics or Football World Cup are an excellent way to bring countries together and make their relationship stronger. While others in contrary suggests that these international events create competition rather than friendship between two nations. In my opinion, although it may create competition amongst citizens of countries but I strongly agree that these events brings two countries together in terms of global and financial relations.

To begin with, international sports are often played in particular country decided through global relations and that particular country sponsor an entire event. Moreover, it is common that the citizens of different nations will be visiting the event in order to support their admiring player and during the event they often visit the famous places of the city on non event days. These events are creating an amazing opportunity for people to visit an international desinations, by which they can also learn about the culture, festivals and living habitats of another place. For example, Japan often sponsor The Olympics in order to invite international citizens and ministers in order to attract them towards the beauty of Japan which consequently make their relationship stronger amongst countries.

On the other hand, International events may create an adverse effect between the countries and residents of different countries through competition. The event attenders often envy the oposite teams' supporters by certain comments and these may create haterate towards eachothers countries. To illustrate more, recent international cricket match between India and pakistan created an uncomfortable situation by the match attenders in Dubai International stadium due to the racist comments.

In essence, there are certain possibilities that these events may create competitive environment however, these issues are negligible and avoidable with restrictive actions. On the other hand it strongly supports the unity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear view: international events can create rivalry, but you believe their benefits for unity and relations are stronger. The examples of visitors learning about Japan and tensions at an India–Pakistan cricket match are relevant and help illustrate each side. However, the positive case is developed more fully than the opposing view, which is mainly described as envy and racist comments; explain more clearly how this competition can damage relations between countries, not just among spectators. The claim that hosting events strengthens financial and global relations also needs a more direct explanation or evidence. Overall, the task is addressed, but some ideas are less fully developed than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting international events, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In essence” make the direction of the argument easy to follow. This coherent organisation meets the lower-band expectations, and the paragraphing is effective. To make progression more consistently smooth, connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports and avoid relying on formulaic transitions. For instance, the Japan example could be followed by a sentence explaining how cultural contact builds lasting cooperation. The final paragraph is very brief and introduces “restrictive actions” without explaining what these would be, so the conclusion does not fully draw together the reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “global relations,” “adverse effect,” “competitive environment,” and “racist comments,” and the main ideas remain understandable. There are also noticeable problems with word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling that limit precision: “working alliance” is unnatural in this context, “admiring player” does not express the intended meaning, and “haterate” and “desinations” are misspelled. Phrases such as “living habitats” and “event attenders” are also not natural ways to describe local lifestyles and spectators. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships for sport, tourism, and international relations, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although it may create competition…” and a relative clause in “the citizens of different nations will be visiting…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “these events brings” has subject–verb disagreement, while “others in contrary suggests” has an agreement error and an incomplete contrast structure. Articles and number are also inconsistent in phrases such as “an international desinations,” and the opening sentence has a mismatch in “competition and working alliance … has been increasing.” Review agreement, singular and plural forms, and article use, then proofread long sentences to ensure their clauses are grammatically complete.
