Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and give a personal conclusion: you argue that sporting events can encourage countries to help one another, while competition, jealousy and political or business interests may create tension. However, the discussion is brief and the supporting points are often unclear or asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between the Olympics and assistance during disasters is mentioned but not illustrated with a specific example. Your conclusion uses the coin and knife comparison, but the final position—“countries are do not have any competition each other”—is difficult to interpret. The response is also 43 words below the 250-word minimum; the 59 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a clear explanation and relevant example, then state your opinion unambiguously.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic overall structure: you introduce the topic, discuss the view in favour, present the opposing view, and finish with a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two sides. However, progression within paragraphs is weak, and several ideas are joined in long, unclear sequences, such as the list of disasters followed by “And some medical emergency and so on.” Connect each point to the main argument and explain how it supports it. Linking phrases such as “That is true” and repeated openings with “Some people believe” are mechanical, while references such as “these” and “that” are not always clear. Use distinct paragraphs with topic sentences, and organise each paragraph around one developed reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “friendship,” “natural disasters,” “jealous feeling,” and “political.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both cooperation and rivalry. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors or inaccurate expressions make parts difficult to understand: “belive,” “partcipate,” “compretition,” and “numder one position” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “care, share and habits” and “gain name fame.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you explain the effects of international events rather than relying on repeated general terms such as “good,” “bad,” and “some.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express reasons and contrast the two positions, but sentence structures are very limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes obscuring meaning. For example, “Olympic games are participate world wide countries” lacks a workable verb structure, while “It build friendship each other countries” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “are good way” and “some medical emergency.” Several fragments, including “Like any emergency natural disasters,” are not complete sentences. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using clauses such as “because” and “although.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
