Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals assert that global sports events like olympics or football world cup, are act as a platform to bring countries together while others contend that these events bring competition, not friendship among countries. This essay will discuss both views along with my opinion.
On the one hand, there are plenty of benefits of organizing international sports events. Firstly, when different nations play together it create a strong friendship bond among them. As a consequence, they help each other in difficult times especially during wars. Furthermore, global sport events also help to understand the differnt cultures and traditions. It brings a sense of mutual respect among opponents. To add to it, it alos boost the economy of the countries. For instance, whenever there is a match between two countries, people buy tickets to watch the match which ultimately inclines the nation's economy.
On the other hand, international sport events create competition instead of friendship. For illustration, atheletes want to win medals and trophies for their nation but when the lose they start arguing with opponents. Moreover, fans also show aggressive behavior when their nation team lose important match. To add to it, sometimes winning a match is really important for teams, as a result of it they start disrespecting their opponents.
In my opinion, people should encourage the international sports events to bring countries together. Win or lose is a part of game, they should not not take it personally. Teams should have a respectful nature for their opponents.
In conclusion, although international sports events have some drawbacks, yet it acts as a bridge to bring countries together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion: the essay argues that events can foster friendship and cultural understanding, while also acknowledging that athletes and fans may become hostile when their side loses. These points are relevant to the question. However, some support is broad or not fully explained. For example, the claim that countries help one another “especially during wars” is asserted without showing how sporting events lead to this, and the economic example focuses on ticket purchases without explaining the wider effect. The opposing view is also less developed than the first. To strengthen the response, explain the causes and consequences of each view with a specific example, and make the reasoning behind your position more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help distinguish the arguments. The sequence within paragraphs is generally logical, but linking phrases are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, particularly “To add to it” and “For instance.” Some references are also unclear, as in “as a result of it,” where the reader must infer what “it” refers to. The conclusion repeats the central position rather than drawing the discussion together. Use a wider range of natural transitions and clearer references, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “mutual respect,” “opponents,” “medals,” and “aggressive behavior.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “bring,” “countries,” and “match,” while several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “inclines the nation's economy,” “nation team,” “differnt,” and “alos.” Some phrases also sound unnatural, such as “create a strong friendship bond.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe how events “boost the host economy” or “foster diplomatic ties,” rather than relying on broad or inaccurate expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “when,” “as,” and “although.” This gives the response some variety, and the main message remains clear. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction persist. For example, “it create” should be “it creates,” “when the lose” needs a subject and correct verb form, and “international sports events … are act” combines incompatible verb forms. The final paragraph also contains the repeated “not not,” while “although … yet” creates an awkward paired construction. Review subject–verb agreement and sentence patterns, and proofread for duplicated words. More accurate control of these forms would make your complex sentences clearer.
