Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is belived by some people that international sports events helps to bring nations together, whereas others think that these tournamnents make competition, not freindship among nations. I will discuss both views and give my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
There is one reason why some people say that international sports events are a good way to bring countries together. The reason is that it gives opportunity for people to meet people of different nation and exchange their thoughts, as people come to watch tournamnet of different nation sit together which gives opportunity to share their talks and to know more about each other. Moreover, after the match players also meet each others and they share their knowledge of playing with each others, Which connects both nations together and make relation more strong.
However, There are two reasons why others think that these events not create friendship, make competition among nations. Firstly, it creates revilary in game, because if ones defeated others and next time nation keep in the mind to take revilary from particular nation. For example, news channel also spread news that it is time to take revenge from other nation, which creates comeptition between nation and people starts disliking opponent nation. Secondly, players sometimes start agruing with opponent team. If any decision in game was against their team or when players said someting wrong to other team member, they start arguning with each others. It weaks nation relationships.
In conclusion, although international sports bring countries together, others, including me believe that it creates more competition and not friendship between countries due to reasons I mentioned above.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion, particularly in the conclusion: you believe these events create more competition than friendship. The response also gives relevant reasons, including opportunities for spectators and players to interact, as well as rivalry and arguments between teams. This meets the task, but the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph offers several related points without a specific example, while the opposing view includes a news-channel example but does not explain how common or influential such coverage is. The conclusion repeats your position rather than adding a final insight. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each reason more fully and use a concrete example to support the view that sport can unite people.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Moreover,” “However,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. In the first body paragraph, the ideas about spectators meeting and players sharing knowledge are linked, but the explanation repeats the idea of having an opportunity to meet and talk. The reference in “it gives opportunity” is also unclear because it could refer to the events or the reason just mentioned. Improve cohesion by making references explicit, reducing repeated points, and using transitions that show the relationship between ideas rather than simply listing them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international sports events,” “opponent nation,” “revenge,” and “relationships,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “belived,” “tournamnents,” “freindship,” and “revilary.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “make competition” and “take revilary” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. Repetition of “nation,” “opportunity,” and “each other” further limits flexibility. Aim to learn accurate topic vocabulary and common collocations, then check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for rivalry, international relations, and sporting encounters would make the argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because” and “if,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “international sports events helps” should use a plural verb, while “it gives opportunity” needs a clearer subject and an article before “opportunity.” In “players also meet each others,” the pronoun form is incorrect, and “It weaks nation relationships” has problems with verb form and noun number. Some long sentences also become difficult to control, particularly the explanation about spectators meeting. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and complete grammatical structure.
