Student answer (Band 5.0)
Sport events like The Olympics or Football World Cup are an effective way to connect people of other nations argued by several individuals, however, other belives that these events can creates the sense of competition despite the togetherness between the nations. In this essay, I will discuss both point of views and give my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, people who considered that sporting events are gathering individuals of disntinct countires by sharing their culture. To elaborate it, other nationalities always want to expand their culture at international level during the these kind of sport events, they generally demonstrate the mutual repect towards other customs and traditions despite the language which is advantageous to make the friends from other nations. For instance, survey conducted in 2020 by World Sports Organization, revealed that around 80% people were making new friends while they were meeting on the international sport ocassions. Consequently, these events connect individuals easily than any other event.
On the other hand, few people assume that these events are causing the issue of competition rather than have friendship between the nations because of the pressue of winning game. To explicate it, as players played at internationally with others mostly players have stress to win the sport and achive the trophy and represent their country. Due to this anxiety, they do not believe to make friends from other or competitor nations. To illustrate it, in 2016, in Olympics games both competitor teams were fighting with each other because of winning trophy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views by explaining that sporting events can encourage cultural exchange and friendship, while pressure to win may create rivalry. The examples about meeting people and competing teams are relevant to these points. However, the response does not fully complete the task: the introduction promises your opinion, but the conclusion ends abruptly at “sports events are the bes” and never states a complete position. Several ideas are also asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that players do not believe in making friends because of anxiety needs clearer reasoning or a more specific example. Develop each view with a fuller explanation and finish with an explicit, supported opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph. Signposts such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In Conclusion” help identify the intended direction. However, progression within sentences and between ideas is often difficult to follow. The first body paragraph combines cultural sharing, respect for customs, friendship, and a survey without clearly showing how each point connects. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “Consequently” before a broad conclusion and “Hence” before an unclear result. The unfinished conclusion also prevents the essay from reaching a coherent ending. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mutual respect,” “customs and traditions,” “international,” and “anxiety,” and you use some variation rather than repeating only basic terms. However, word choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to understand. Examples include “disntinct countires,” “sport ocassions,” “pressue,” and “unfortunated issues.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “expand their culture at international level” and “the sense of competition despite the togetherness.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “promote cultural exchange” and “intensify national rivalry” would express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “these events can creates” should use a base verb after “can,” while “it will created” has an incorrect verb form. In “as players played at internationally with others mostly players have stress,” the clause structure and tense relationships are unclear. The opening sentence also joins contrasting ideas in a way that makes the sentence difficult to control. Build accuracy with shorter sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each verb against its subject and time reference.
