Student answer (Band 6.0)
According to an army of people, international sports events, like the Olympics or the Football World Cup, play an indispensable role in making good relations among nations. While, the others say that these create competition between countries rather than friendship. I will discuss both prospects and share my thoughts in my upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, there are a number of reasons why these events are helpful in creating good relations between countries. First and foremost, sports encourage unity. To explain this, sports motivate players to play together without any discrimination. Players participate in games to compete with opposite team and they show their teamwork to win the match. Secondly, they play sports with discipline, and if they lose the match, they congratulate the other team members by shaking hands and hugging. In this way, they show their gratitude to the opposite team members. I think this shows a good bond between nations.
On the other hand, some folks have different thoughts about this. Primary reason, these sports events increase competitions between countries. Because when sportsmen play a match with another nation, they want to do better than them and want to win. Due to this, they play games with strategies, not for love. Another reason is that the audience from those nations also has discrimination in their mind. For example, there was a cricket match between India and Pakistan; the individuals from both nations want to win for their country because they think that if they lose to the Pakistan team, it will be a shame for them.
To sum up, I think every coin has two sides. Although game events are good to make strong bonds between nations but, we cannot neglect the feeling of competition between countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: international events can build bonds, although competition remains. The discussion of unity, teamwork and congratulating opponents is relevant, and the India–Pakistan cricket example supports the competitive side. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For instance, the claim that players compete “without any discrimination” is broad and not explained, while the point that audiences may discriminate is asserted rather than illustrated in detail. Your conclusion restates the two-sided position but could make your own judgement more decisive by explaining which effect you consider stronger and why. Developing each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific consequence would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help readers identify the structure. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, linking is occasionally mechanical, with repeated sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” and “Another reason.” Some connections between claims also need clearer development: “Due to this, they play games with strategies, not for love” does not fully explain how strategic play prevents friendship. Use a wider range of links that show cause, contrast, or example, and make each sentence build more explicitly on the previous one.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “unity,” “teamwork,” “discipline,” and “discrimination.” There are also attempts at less common or emphatic language, such as “indispensable role” and “gratitude.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, which limits the range’s effectiveness: “an army of people” is an unsuitable expression here, “making good relations” is not a natural collocation, and “different prospects” does not clearly mean different opinions. “Increase competitions” also uses the wrong form and collocation. Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than elevated wording that does not fit the context. Learning topic-specific collocations for international relations and sport would help you express ideas more accurately and flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While” and a conditional example with “if they lose the match.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “While, the others say” is an incomplete dependent clause, and “compete with opposite team” is missing an article. In “Although game events are good to make strong bonds between nations but,” the conjunctions are incorrectly combined and the sentence structure is incomplete before the conclusion continues. There are also issues with sentence boundaries, as in “Primary reason, these sports events increase competitions between countries. Because when…” Practise complete clause construction, articles, and punctuation, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
