Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, sports events have been gaining a lot of popularity world wide. Some critics support that international sports events such as Olympics, Cricket World cup are a significant way to bring countries together. Apponents believe that these events create competiton, not brotherhood between nations. I intend to discuss both these views and give my opinion in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, many countries take part in international sports events and with that these countries can reduce rifts between them by creating a strong bond. For instance, cricket match between India and Australia provides a platform to the spectators. Meanwhile spectators can cheer for the opposing nation player as well which may create a strong and good bond with opposing country. As a result, if some national crises arise in the future both countries are ready to help each other in tough times. So it is a positive development.
Although, some apponents are critisizing this intiative. People believe that this events are just for entertainment purpose and will not lead to any positive developments. Instead it will lead to competion, and rifts between nations. For illustration, match between India against Pakistan creates a negative development and major issues.
To conclude, although some people believe that international sports events create rifts and competition between nations. Others support that these events are neccessary to build a strong bond between countries. I personally believe that these events are very vital to spread positivity between nations and to reduce conflicts among them. So that nations can help each other in future crises.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state your own position clearly: you argue that sporting events can build bonds and conclude that they can reduce conflict. The India–Australia example supports the friendship view, while India–Pakistan illustrates the opposing view. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The claim that spectators cheering for opposing players could lead countries to help one another during future crises needs a clearer explanation, and the competition paragraph gives only a brief example without explaining how rivalry becomes harmful. Develop each reason with a specific mechanism or consequence, and make your opinion explicit earlier as well as in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “For instance,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. Some links, however, feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. “Although” begins a sentence that does not complete a contrast, while “So that nations can help each other” is a fragment rather than a fully connected concluding idea. References such as “this initiative” and “these events” are understandable, but the progression within the examples could be clearer. Use linking expressions only where their meaning fits, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “international sports events,” “spectators,” “opposing nation,” “competition,” and “conflicts,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “positive development.” This gives you enough range to discuss the topic, but several word choices, collocations, and spellings are inaccurate or awkward: “support that,” “brotherhood between nations,” “major issues,” and “neccessary” are examples. Repetition of “strong bond” and “positive” also limits precision. Choose more natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe events as helping to “foster goodwill” rather than creating a “strong and good bond.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the conditional idea “if some national crises arise in the future” and a contrast introduced with “although.” The main meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “these events is” (subject–verb agreement), “this events” (determiner and plural agreement), and “match between India against Pakistan” (sentence construction). The final sentence, “So that nations can help each other in future crises,” is incomplete because it lacks an independent clause. Practise checking agreement, articles, and sentence completeness, and revise complex sentences to ensure that each clause is grammatically connected.
