Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, global sports events play significant role to make various countries relationship better. Some people think that it creates a sense of competition between nations rather than a friendship. However, others believe that it is the best way to bring different nations together. In my opinion, global sports game improve relations between the nations. This essay will discuss both these views and explain my point of view.
The primary reason to support first view is it enables local players to represent their talents at the world level. This is because global event such as the Football world cup welcoming talents from the different parts of the world, give them chance to prove their skills in their sports. If they use these opportunities wisely, they can be the better competitor at the global level and represent their country. For instance, India versus Pakistan cricket match is rivalry more than normal sports, due to this only talented players can get chance to play this game.
In contrast, world wide sports events encourage citizens to visit host country not only support their players in the competition, but also they will get opportunities to explore other's culture. When natives welcoming different communities to their home, people show the respect to others and follow their traditions. For example , in 2011 India organized a cricket world cup enables foreigners to creates better relations with the Indian local people. As a result, number of foreigners has been increased to travel to India.
To conclude, in my opinion, organizing global events give more opportunities to the people across the world to visit host country and explore more about their culture and trades. So, in the future it creates the business option for both nations. Although personal rivalry give chance participants to perform better, visiting different countries help to learn different aspects of the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear opinion that international sporting events improve relations, and you attempt to discuss both sides. The paragraph about rivalry offers a relevant example in the India–Pakistan cricket match, while the next paragraph explains how visitors can encounter the host country’s culture. However, the two views are not developed with equal clarity: the first paragraph mainly explains players’ opportunities and competition, rather than fully showing how events may create competition instead of friendship. The cultural and business benefits in the second view are also asserted more than explained, and the conclusion introduces trade without developing it earlier. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of rivalry and friendship more directly, then support each with a specific, clearly connected example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “However,” “In contrast,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. This gives the essay an overall coherent arrangement. At times, though, the links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For instance” introduces the India–Pakistan match, but the connection between player selection and competition is not fully explained. In the second body paragraph, the shift from visitors learning about culture to increased travel is also abrupt. Make each paragraph follow a clearer chain of claim, explanation, and example, and use pronouns and linking phrases only where their references are unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “rivalry,” “represent,” “host country,” and “traditions,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “global level.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “make various countries relationship better,” “represent their talents,” and “creates the business option.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check whether a phrase fits its context; for example, players demonstrate their talent, while events may foster international relations or create business opportunities. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish sporting rivalry from hostility between nations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “This is because…” and “When natives…,” as well as a conditional clause beginning “If they use these opportunities wisely.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms occur across the response. Examples include “global sports events play significant role,” “global event … welcoming talents … give them chance,” and “in 2011 India organized … enables foreigners.” These show problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms, while some long sentences combine ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and tense consistency during revision.
