Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall position: international events can unite people, but organisers and authorities must manage their effects on residents. The examples about families attending the World Cup and late-night noise make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The benefits paragraph explains shared sporting enthusiasm and economic activity, while the opposing view focuses mainly on disturbance and does not fully explain how competition between countries can weaken friendship. The conclusion also introduces advice about learning from previous hosts without developing it. To strengthen the response, explain more directly how national rivalry may create tension, then support that point with a specific example and connect your conclusion more closely to your main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. This makes the line of discussion easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the other hand” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. The conclusion returns to the central issue of unity and residents’ concerns. Some links are less smooth or precise, however. “In addition” is repeated, and the opening of the opposing paragraph, “This could occur due to,” leads into an unclear explanation. The final recommendation about seeking guidance from previous hosts is also not clearly linked to the earlier example. Use a wider range of linking expressions selectively and make each sentence’s connection to the paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “international sports events,” “support their team,” “hospitality sector,” and “residents,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “share the same feelings” and “lead the event.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “opportiny,” “unied,” “rivality,” and “disturb” appear where more accurate forms are needed. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “the economy will rise” and “meet the locals.” Build accuracy with common collocations for events, tourism, and rivalry, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help express the contrast between international friendship and national competition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a relative clause in “families … who … have high expectations.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “big sports events, is” has incorrect agreement, while “In this essay will discuss” is missing a subject. In “worldwide sports events is a platform,” the plural subject does not match the verb. The sentence beginning “This could occur due to” is also awkwardly constructed, and the final sentence shifts between “should ask” and “was celebrate.” Review subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns, then check tense consistency and punctuation. Greater control of these forms would make your ideas easier to read.
