Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that sports competitions such as Olympics or world cup unite different countries because it brings interaction and communication among the players. While others believe that these sports activities creates enemity among countries as result of disappiontment from lossing a match. However, I am of the opinion that such competitions brings unity among the different countries despite who wins the game because the spirit of sportsmanship goes beyond the football field. It affects every other aspect of their lives and streghtens the bond between different countries.
Football game is the most popular sports in the world, as a result all the countries of the world participates in the sports. Asides the skill of playing football, the team members are also taught how to work together to achieve a common goal. This discipline is being carried with them wherever they go. That spirit of oneness influnences their way of life. They see their competitors as friend not as an enemy. That way, the friendship is built between different countries. For example the team that lost a competition can initiate a conversation with the team that won in order to learn from their skills. in so doing, it strenghens the communication betwen the two countries that played the game.
On the other hand, some are of the opinion that International sports events can bring enemity or competition between countries as a result of disappiontment in lossing a match or a sports competition. The goal of every competition is to have a winner. Everybody can't win at the same time and some people can't stand being the losser maybe because of the amount of effort that has been put into practicing for the game. The disappiontment from lossing a game can begin to create discord and unhealthy competition among different countries.
In my own opinion I believe that international competitions is a good way to bring various countries together because it creates an atmosphere of friendship and interaction among various people who enjoy a particular sports and understands the true meaning of sportsmanship.
Overall, while some believe that international sports events create unhealthy competition among different countries, I am of the opinion that despite the outcome of any sports competition , such events unites different countries because of the spirit of sportsmanship.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a consistent opinion: international events can unite countries because sportsmanship extends beyond the field. The discussion of friendship is supported with a relevant example of a losing team approaching the winner to learn from them. You also explain how disappointment can lead to discord, so both sides of the question are covered. However, the opposing view is less fully developed: it is mainly described as a reaction to losing, without a specific example or explanation of how competition between countries might persist beyond the match. Your own position is clear, but the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Develop each side with more specific reasoning and examples to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “On the other hand” and “For example” help readers follow the discussion. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some stronger control through paragraphing and a clear line of argument. However, connections can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear or repetitive. For instance, “That way” follows several sentences about teamwork without specifying exactly which effect it refers to, while the final paragraph repeats the same unity claim already made in the introduction. Use more precise links between cause and effect, and make the conclusion synthesise rather than restate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sportsmanship,” “interaction,” “discord,” and “unhealthy competition,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary, such as “initiate a conversation” and “achieve a common goal.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “countries,” “competition,” and “disappointment,” and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “enemity,” “disappiontment,” “losser,” and “influnences.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the team that lost a competition” in this context and “the amount of effort that has been put into practicing.” Build a wider set of accurate collocations and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “despite who wins the game” and a cause-and-effect structure beginning “because it creates an atmosphere.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “these sports activities creates,” “all the countries … participates,” and “such events unites.” Articles and number are also problematic in “such as Olympics or world cup” and “Football game is the most popular sports.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly the lowercase “in so doing” after a full stop and the extra space before a comma in the conclusion. Review agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence.
