Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed by many that international sports events like as Olympics, Football or Cricket World cup are great ways to unite the communities around the world. Proponents argue that these events give birth to competition instead of friendship between countries. This essay will present ideas of these people supporting different views. From my perspective both of these things happen.
It is an irrefutable fact that different countries come together to sponsor an international event and make it successful. Organising countries open different ways for people to travel to their country and witness the live performance of players. This helps people to obtain firsthand experience of cultural exchange. Moreover, media channels throughout the world cover the news related to the event to provide update to ones watching from their homes. For instance, although fifa world cup was organised in North America it attracted the attention of individuals living outside the continent as well and people showed their support to their favorite players despite their culture or identity. Consequently, fandome comes together to provide their support.
Conversely, individuals who believe these sports events create competition because of the aggressive support shown by the public. In other words people in the stadium loudly cheer for their preferred team and show flags to motivate the players. Additionally, these situations rise conflicts in the field which sometimes result in fights between players. For example, during an argument between India and Pakistan cricket match a few years ago, Yuvraj Singh showed his aggressive response through batting which is still remembered by cricket fans.
In conclusion, despite the closeness among different nations , sports events such as the Olympics and other activities raise competition. However, I remain convenience that these activities plays equal role in bringing communities together and creating competitive world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and give a personal position, stating that both unity and competition result from international sport. The first body paragraph explains cultural exchange and worldwide interest, while the second describes passionate support and conflict, so the response remains relevant to the question. However, the opening misrepresents the opposing view: it says supporters believe events “give birth to competition instead of friendship,” without clearly identifying that as the other side’s argument. Your examples are also not fully explained; the India–Pakistan match anecdote does not clearly show how competition between countries is created. Develop each view with a more precise example and explain its significance, then state your balanced opinion more clearly and consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Conversely,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “This essay will present ideas of these people supporting different views” does not clearly preview the argument, and “Consequently, fandome comes together” is difficult to connect to the preceding example. The conclusion also introduces “creating competitive world” without clearly linking it to the earlier points. Use more precise referencing and make each paragraph’s final sentence show how its example supports the main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cultural exchange,” “firsthand experience,” “aggressive support,” and “preferred team.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary, and the meaning is generally understandable. Some less common expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “give birth to competition,” “fandome comes together,” and “raise competition” do not fit the intended meanings. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “fandome” and “convenience,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe fans as “coming together” and say that events “intensify competition” rather than “raise competition.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a relative clause in “media channels … cover the news … to provide update” and a concessive clause beginning “although.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “like as Olympics,” the missing article in “a few years ago” contexts such as “during an argument between India and Pakistan cricket match,” and the agreement error “these activities plays.” The final sentence also has an unclear structure: “I remain convenience that these activities plays equal role.” Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence construction, and proofread punctuation and spacing. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
